The rubber gasket is a bitch, just be patient and it will go in. Would of been great of grimmspeed had pre install them though.

Yea, I got everything to fit but I feel like there's more of a gap between the snorkel and the intake than ideal. First impression of the intake is pretty good, I'll see about that OFT tune too

Pre-cutting the gaskets to fit is a daunting enough task (which no other intake manufacturer does btw), it would have substantially slowed production to install the gaskets on hundreds of intakes which would have substantially slowed sending them out to everyone. We thought that putting the gasket on was the easy part! We'll look into it though if anyone else has a problem.

The snorkel fits inside the rubber gasket, correct? There shouldn't be any sort of gap between the airbox and the snorkel. There should be some foam exposed on the snorkel, but if you look at the mounting point up top this is the closest you can push the airbox towards the snorkel. I even went so far as to riveting the airbox's mounting bracket INSIDE the box to allow you to move the box forward that extra eighth inch. If you look on the side of the airbox when the snorkel is in, the snorkel should be pretty much if not exactly flush with the entrance of the airbox. It doesnt really get more ideal than that! In the 10 months now that we've had the intake on the car, we have not ever had any problems with the gasket to snorkel connection, so rest assured!

I should have clarified up top but I was talking about not enclosing all of the foam portion of the snorkel. Definitely not as close as in OP's picture. I'll probably try fitting it a bit closer after work today, any tips for getting it flush?

Fair enough, in all honestly it wasn't thhhhaaaat hard to get the gasket on, patience was the key. What kind of afr should I be seeing to ensure that I install the filter in correctly? I use a ob2d reader that probably isn't the most accurate and in real time, it's reading about 14.6 or so at idle, something I see spikes of 20. And up for a brief moment. I try my best to ensure there is a 1 inch gap but it isn,t evenly 1 inch all the way around the intake tube. Seeing that I don't have a way to log data is idle might be the best time for me to get afr reading?

Have you gotten the tune yourself yet? Did you just send something to the sales email or is there a direct line to Shiv?

Sure, loosen the two bolts holding the airbox down, take the lid off, make sure you have the gasket material on the side that favors out (the gasket material has a lean to it, and will favor one side over the other). Push the snorkel in as far as you can, working around the edges to make sure its seated from inside the box, the push the airbox towards the snorkel, and then tighten down the two bolts at the same time to hold it in place. It will be flush from the inside of the box, not the outside. If it's not it's okay. The OP added zip ties around his to hold the gasket down. This isnt necessary, but it makes it look like it's more covering the foam because the gasket is flattened out.

Your idle AFR looks good, and if you're about one inch away you're fine. If you're too far out you won't be leaner, but if you're too far in there will be a disruption to the airflow between the entry to the pipe and the filter venturi that will cause the power gains to be negligible. No risk of being lean, and the 1inch measurement doesnt need to be exact, but if the gap is only like .5in or less you might not reach the full potential of the intake, which is why we mention it in the instructions. You're all good

His car was the car that Shiv used to make the tune so he definitely has the tune. Not sure about the rest of your question though.

I got the tune from shiv. Im not sure if its the intake itself or the tune but I'm now, after install and tune, producing a weird smell in my cabin. Are you? I dont know who else to ask since Im not sure who else has the tune as well.

The smell was not there before the intake or tune.

But car feels so much more amazing haha
