I went ahead and ordered an OBD extiension, iMagnet and some cheapo clip type phone holder. I was going to use the clip type holder to hold my iPhone for harry's lap timer recording but found it vibrated too much. Instead I used it to hold the OFT along with the OBD extension and it works perfectly. Haven't had a connection problem mid-drive or mid-log yet. Although the OFT had trouble connecting to ECU upon start up several times. When I go and disconnect and reconnect the OBD connector it usually clears up.

Now the question is if this iMagnet will give me vibration free video recordings with my iPhone cam and Harry's Timer..

Flat Ribbon OBD Extension:

Cheapo clip type phone holder (vibrates a bit, and articulation is limited, but suction is excellent):

The standard 180* plug puts too much stress on the connection IMHO causing connection problems after some usage.

So just to confirm, is OFT safe with using a magnetic mount?

I'm planning to use a Logitech magnetic mount and would like to be sure.

Thx

@Shiv@Openflash any idea if there's anything that could be demagnetised in the OFT? I'm also keen to use a magnetic mount and would hate to destroy my tablet

I know the iMagnet mount is fairly popular but I'm not sure of the strength of it at the track.

I already plan on getting a right angle OBD II adapter and taping it securely.
Velcro - Stood up to tracking g forces just fine.

Where can I get an OBD II right angle adapter ?
