My main question is how is the throttle response in the lower RPM range up to 3,000 RPMs after the ECU learning period is over? I never go WOT or over 3,700 RPMs in my Evo (5th gear at 80 MPH).

Not much difference from your test drive. Some bolts on and Ecu tune would be more excite to drive. However out of box brz is quite fuel efficient. I got 29-35 mpg

Definitely a different driving experience in the BRZ. This engine likes to rev, and the power comes in the 4500-7000 rpm range. 6th gear at 80 mph is about 3500 rpm. Truth be told I only use 5th about 50% of the time. Often I go straight from 4th to 6th when getting on the highway.

5th gear is kind of an oddball isn't it. Every time I'm in 5th gear, I feel like I should be in 4th or 6th depending on what going on lol.

I felt like that too. That's why I made it so the gear is displayed on the gauges. I don't always look at it, but it's nice to have displayed for those moments when I have some doubt.

I didn't mean I get confused as to what gear I'm in. I meant that 5th gear always seems useless because most of the time you're better off in 4th or 6th.

lol im the opposite. i ride 5th gear all the time and hardly ever use 6th. i never drive on the highway (if i do i use 6th) but where i live the speed limits are 30-35 so 6th is no good, bogs down hard and 4th is too high for mpg so 5th is just right haha

I try to aim at 2250-2600 RPM when I'm cruising. Anything under 2k bogs.
