Wheel for 300zx brake swap
I am sure most of you have seen the 300zx brake swap for the FRS/BRZ. If not, here it is:
http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/nis...r-frs-brz.html They are 30mm calipers and 317mm front rotors. I was wondering if you could fit them under 17" wheels. I know the stock rims won't work. I was hoping to run a 17x7.5 with a 42mm offset but have no clue what will work. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Just learned that the stock wheels fit the brake kit with an 8mm spacer. Given stock offset, what offset will clear the brakes?
Also, the 300ZX came with 17" wheels so this should be possible. |

Brake caliper clearance is dictated by spoke design more so than offset.

So then something flat or concave will give me the best chances of clearing?

Nice! I loved those cars more than anything. Miss the car. Did NOT miss all the piping and boost leaks!

See: TE37 vs TE37v. The same size/offset wheels in either design will clear, or not clear a brake setup. An example of what different concave/backpad looks like: ![]() In practice, it will be essentially how much distance is between the back of the spoke, vs where the brake caliper will sit. a brake setup with a 11" rotor vs 13" rotor make a difference. -alex |
