Oh, shit! For a second I was killing myself thinking "Why the fuck do I know what this means?"
Awesome! Just had a memory lane flashback.

My brand loyalty to Panasonic was cemented when, for my first gig out of the Navy, I spent 3 years repairing home electronics. Their products have always shown a unique commitment to serviceability and durability.

I've been eyeballing this TV for a while and it's dropped under $1100 now. What do you guys think? It's 4K, Smart and a 50''.

4K is also a waste without OLED (once they can figure out how to solve the organic diode longevity issue). A 4k panel should be seriously monitored in 1080 to determine 1080 quality (most sets do a poor job in 1080 and in upscaling 1080 to 4k) as that will be the main viewing source for the next 5 to 15 years).

I can't go over a 50". My house was designed with the fireplace pushed out a bit from the wall and anything over a 50" would be sticking out on both sides. My living room is designed in a way that basically forces you to mount the tv above the fire place. Definitely puts a limit on things. Maybe I'll just get a top end 50" 1080p TV. I've got a nice 40" right now with 1080, clear motion, Smart and 3D but it's just too damn small for the room.

It will be a long, long time before 4k movies, games, television, etc. are common enough to warrant having one. 1080p was introduced so long ago, and it's STILL by far the most common, and, realistically, good enough for most people.
