A while ago I started coming up with a custom firewall strut tower brace to clear the 4" intake pipe. Here are some pics of the early mock-up design with paper and cardboard.

And the brackets.

Getting ready for Buttonwillow and testing water return to the upper radiator hose from the turbo.

Changing brake fluid after 2000 miles and two track days.

Morning of Buttonwillow Raceway Park track day in Buttonwillow, CA.

After 5 sessions in 103 degree weather my car was toasty. The front W4 brake pad paint started to boil.

One of the center caps on my wheels had a clip break off so I used hot melt inside the wheel to keep it in place. Apparently the wheels were hot enough to melt off hot melt.

A video of one of my sessions at Buttonwillow CW13.

Ask any real racer, it's not how you stand by your car, it's how you remove your shitty plastic Rota center caps before you race your car. I am surprised you hadn't already just melted the plastic.

Hah! One broke off during street driving and two others were spinning around. So I glued them down a while ago. I'll be using some JB Weld or similar next time. I like my cheap plastic gnarbin fiber center caps!

Made a video of my PTuning turbo install from over 9 months ago. It's a high speed recap playback style video. Enjoy.

Sorry if you covered this before but what were your considerations when looking at turbo kits? I saw a post on the Greddy turbo (or it could have been something else) a couple of pages ago, and you said heat management was a big part of your decision.

did you think about the AVO stage 1 kit? or anything else?

very nice car btw

The things that attracted me to this kit most were 1) turbo mounted in a location where exhaust is already routed 2) high quality components 3) small shop {relative to much bigger ones} that stands behind and supports their product and customers.

I looked at several kits but dismissed them all after researching the PTuning setup and talking with their tuner.

And thanks!

I had a great weekend at Buttonwillow. The 86 community makes this car so much more enjoyable. Here are some photos and videos from the event.

While you're out having fun on a Thursday night, I'm having fun washing my wheels before I get them dirty again at track day.

Filling up 101 octane, so pricey.

I have quite a few changes in the works. For now though, swapping out my gear oil for Motul all around. The Motul RBF600 brake fluid doesn't seem to last me more than 2 track days so I'm going to give Torque RT700 a try.

Stock Manifold is out, finally.

And the new PTuning 4-1 EL header going in now.

Can you elaborate on this?

Starts to turn into dark syrup with a thicker floating layer in the filler reservoir that has to be sucked out.

This was after 2 track days and 2000 street miles.

CSG Mike says I'm probably exceeding the max temp and recommended RT700.

What is your brake setup? Instead of changing the fluid, I would fix the heat issue. Changing that expensive brake fluid as often as you are is going to add up quickly.
