Had another track day this weekend and 8 or 9 laps in I started to smell gear oil. It went away after a cool down lap and couldn't smell it back at the paddocks. I recently changed the diff and trans fluid and topped off the charger. After a quick inspection there is nothing coming from the trans or diff. Haven't checked the charger yet.

Has anyone smelt gear oil while on track? It's definitely gear oil and not engine oil.

Thanks

FYI:

Different customers have different requests and we have been working to accommodate everyone on their requests. When an order/request comes in for only two map being setup we setup two maps and no more as that is what was requested/ordered.

Throttle Map 4 (drag) can be used as much as you like, there is no harm in doing so it is just very aggressive. Once again though all our maps are custom ordered to each customers requests. So map #4 might be different between customers. Like we stated we try to customize as much as we can for each customer.

Cheers,
William Knose

Are any of you guys running water-methanol injection?

I am on the edge of switching to twin-screw (turbo'd now), but only if I can get to 300hp on a 2nd map using 93 octane and WMI. I'm seeing people posting mid-200s with 70mm pulley and intercooler, so not sure if WMI will be enough?

I tried searching through and only found a few mentions of people buying WMI kits, but no actual results with the twin-screw.

Maybe ask Kalen Gray at https://www.facebook.com/forgedperformanceaustralia

He was running WMI on his kit.

Hi everyone,

I've recently bought S5-210 with charge cooler. I was wondering, do I need an oil cooler? I am not doing track days. Just for street use. I am in the south cost of UK and weather is not too bad compared to the north.

Also another question;

I've seen Deatschwerks injectors. I can see that injectors are for port but not direct. What are the benefits if I purchase those injectors? I guess D4S using direct injectors on some point.

Thank you for answers...

My guess is that the old oil was just burning off. Either that or you added a little too much and perhaps it came out the tranny or diff vent tube. I don't remember if this car's tranny or diff has a vent tube though.

I'm running an AEM kit, trunk mounted. It has certainly helped in my case. I was originally running 100% methanol but decided on 50/50 most recently. On E85 and with a local tuner's brzedit tune, I put down ~311whp on a dyno dynamics. This was with a 70mm pulley on the 210, lw pulleys, cf driveshaft, pump, etc. I am thinking of migrating to Ecutek to take advantage of the flexibility switching between pump and ethanol. I might be swapping to a 66 or 69mm pulley soon, so I believe the WMI will help even more. No intercooler, other than the WMI.

You're running E85 + WMI and made 311rwhp, or that was with E85 before WMI? Do you know what % ethanol that was by any chance? And do you have any 93 octane + WMI numbers?

Yes E85+WMI(100%). I posted a dyno some time ago. It was straight E85 (no winter blend). It was tested to make sure. On 92 octane and 100% methanol, it made ~276-ish whp. When I dropped to the 50/50 mix on 92 octane, I had to detune slightly. Lost about 8-10whp.

Do you have a full exhaust?

I appreciate all the answers - I am pretty sure I am converting to supercharger, but really want to try to maintain at least 275..300.. hp. Having driven my car at various boost levels on a turbo from 245 to 412hp, I know that ~300 is a pretty good DD power level - especially with the responsiveness of a supercharger.

Yes, full exhaust front to back and both cats retained. It is P&L from the header to the front pipe. Exhaust is aftermarket 2.5".
