New engines from Toyota is nice and all but I get more and more scared that they're going to ditch manual transmissions altogether for the US. However if Mazda's future is bright, maybe that won't matter Anyhow it seems unlikely that Toyota would build any true high performance engines from now on. If they wanted to make a wagon appealing they should have just made this...I'd sell my frs for a shooting brake version in a heart beat.

Pretty certain its going to be an americanized Auris hatch (I actually wished this came here back when the Auris was announced I think about a year before the 12th gen corolla). The Auris even has a wagon variant (Auris touring sports hybrid)
anything to ditch that xD. Dunno why that car even existed. |

Am I the only one here that dislikes Mazda? Long story why, but I sold cars from '87 to '90. I wouldn't give Mazda my money. They are tinny and rust buckets.Flimstest of all the Japanese brands sold here. And how exactly is a CX5 a sports car? They market every model as if it was. They have nothing on Toyotas. Toyota is Japanese design than is NOT flimsy.
They were affiliated with Ford when Ford was shit too. Ford got smart and dumped them as they restructured for the better. People get all horny over Mazda as if they were the latest pron. I don't get it. They are NOT sports cars.

As far as rust, I don't plan to keep Mazdas until then, that's how I eliminate that worry. I agree Mazda had rust issues, as late as mid-late 2000s Mazda 3 rust fiasco. Too early to say if they improved. I've read that new generation of SkyActiv Mazdas are even better, I'm yet to poke around them, but I can't wait for next summer when we swap out wife's 3, will consider CX-5 or a 6. After my mediocre experience at dealerships even for service on my Scion, I don't even consider any of Scion/Toyota cars next. My dad's Lexus has been pretty good tho, it seems those are still on par for quality, but then again most agree current Lexus LS flagship doesn't measure up in terms of bullet prooff-ness to pre 2005 generation (maybe just nostalgic feelings, but seems new LS owners encounter more issues than previous gen). I used to be a huge Toyota fan, even worked at Cambridge, but things have changed... |
