inlet hose void warranty?
So i just installed a perrin inlet hose i received from a fellow forum member and i am curious as to wether it would void my warranty with subaru if i was to bring my car in for repair or oil change. Is this something i can leave on my vehicle when i bring the car in for service? or would i have to remove the part prior to bringing in the car? I have read two different things when searching the forums so i am a bit confused at this point. Also the the inlet tube get so close to touching one of the belts or pullies, has anyone else noticed this?
Thank you to all in advance |

1. remove and reinstall OEM Pro: comfortable going in dealer Con: time waste removing/reinstall 2. Leave mod in Pro: don't have waste time on removing/reinstall Con: Dealer might bitching and you may lose warranty blah blah blah and other hassle common sense. |

Call your dealership and talk to the service manager. Every dealership will be different so some might be mod friendly while others are not. Ask them you are thinking about doing some modifications and what they think about it.

FWIW when I bought my car in for the B01 ECU update, they could not replicate the idle dip issue and noted I had an intake that might be causing it. I showed them the TSB and they said they hadn't seen it, flashed me right away.
I have never seen them note its presence during any other time I've been there (scheduled maintenance, warranty work for tail light condensation)

1) They can't void warranty, they can only deny claims.
2) To deny the claim, they have to be able to prove the modification(s) is the cause of the issue and not a legit warranty issue. So if you have an inlet pipe and have issues with your clutch, transmission, etc you're fine. If you have a vacuum leak caused by the inlet pipe (or installation), you're on your own.

The dealer or Toyota/subaru will always try and blame the aftermarket part or the work done by someone else other than a dealer for the problem. All the magnussun moss act thingo says is they need to have justification for doing so. Just remember they have trained certified technicians , engineers , lawyers and a ship load of money and time to stuff you around, while you try and fight it. If your car has no engine related issues leave the inlet hose in, if its got any kind of engine issue idle dip rattle oil use ect swap it back to stock else may be in for a fight as they will try to aportion blame to the aftermarket bit. inlet is causing idle problems due upsetting MAF readings it did not seal properly and let dust in damaging engine. some other component near inlet was damaged/dislodged during installation of inlet causing issue ect |

Yes, your screwed.....did you know driving your car modifies the tires by removing rubber......this voids your warranty.
Gas in the tank not from the factory....yep warranty voided starting the engine, bearings loose material from friction......warranty voided did you sit on the seat, the foam was crushed a little an obvious modification.....no more warranty. Did you wax the paint........that is a modification too......no more warranty for you. Did you actually use the on the forum.......now your forum warranty is void, this could also mean your forum privileges could be revoked..............Am I being sarcastic.......you decide, By the way........that voids your warranty too
