https://dashcamtalk.com/ is your friend.

I ended up with a B40: https://dashcamtalk.com/b40-a118/ It's OK. One long mini-USB to USB cable and cigarette lighter adapter later, it's plugged into the port behind the glovebox. It does come with an adapter of its own, but I wanted a free USB port in case I wanted to throw something in the glove box to charge.

After reading this entire thread I find it hard to believe that someone would just pull up to you and start throwing their spare change at your car for no reason. I think there was a little more to the story that maybe you did something to egg him on but that's just my opinion. As far as the police go im sorry to say but their not going to do anything about it even if you have his plate number its all he said she said, unless there were witnesses or it happened in their presence. What you should do I is call your insurance company and file claim, give them the plate number and explain to them the situation maybe they can help you out. Good luck bro.

What are the police gonna do? Are they treating this as some sort of violence or recklessness?

You've got a license plate and a description of the car and driver, go through your insurance, they'll hunt him down and have their insurance cover any of your costs and he has to deal with the repercussions of the incident.

Agreed, don't meet the guy, let the mechanisms set up by society do their work and move on.

Hey friend, I'm going to echo everyone else on here and recommend you just report it and go through insurance.

You have very little to gain and a whole lot to lose by "meeting him like a man." Don't forget there is now documented proof on this board of your intent to "eff him up."

You sound like a decent guy who obviously holds a decent job and takes care of your car. Keep your testosterone in check. We don't know anything about this other guy aside from the fact that he has reckless abandon. Don't play his game -- even if you win, you'll lose.

I think what happened to you sucks and now I'm just advising you to not make things worse. It's possible insurance will blow you off (since it's really just your word against his) but that's better than assault+battery charges or risks to your health.

You know there's been two reports today on the news in SoCal... and my own personal experience from yesterday.

One was a driver cutting another person off to make a right turn. I guess the driver got cut off was super pissed off, that he fired 2 shots inside the car. Not sure if the victim is in critical condition, but the suspect was hispanic shaven head with a "stache" too.

The other incident occurred when the suspect stole the parking space of the person who was waiting for it. The person honked repeatedly but had to move onto another spot. The suspect then met up with the person and pummeled the victim. I'm not going to include the race of the suspect.

Yesterday, while I was coming to a complete stop, a black pickup truck cut in front of me. I highbeamed him, and he sticks out his middle finger at me while throwing a quarter-filled water bottle onto my windshield. Luckily it was my windshield, but I was pissed off, took his license plate #, and called the police.

What has society come to these days? Obviously these people don't care if they end up in jail or get in trouble with the law. Racial stereotypes are based off of culture & income predetermined childhood factors that can make people become scums to society. That's another topic though. Some people just hate it when you have nice things and they don't.

/rant

TL;DR: I hate people.

You gain nothing from trying to school other drivers on the road —everyone thinks they know best—, and it can trigger the sort of behavior you were a victim of. Also, it can be hard to see what finger you're using from outside your car..

When another driver is being a ****, or acting like he's annoyed at something you did, I have learnt that it's best not to address or acknowledge them. No eye contact, no hand gestures, no flashing your high beams.

I found it hard to believe as well, but all I did was point to the middle lane, merely suggesting that he should pull over a lane to let others through. I didn't cut him off and I never tailgated him.

Thank everyone to listening to my rant and I will be taking your advice. I will be calling my insurance today, as my payment is due and I call it anyways. I will let them do the work, because that is what I pay them for.

I need to talk with my dealership to see if I purchased the protection plan. I know I bought the factory maintenance plan, no sure on the protection plan.

I will let he powers at be work it out. I believe in Karma, and what does around comes around.

And at least I was not shot

The officer I spoke with told me it was his Friday, but he assured me he would be in contact this up coming week. I am not expecting any to happen immediately, and in the mean time I will be working with my insurance company. And purchasing a dashcam.

Honestly, it is quite apparent, especially in this day and age, that a dashcam is the most financial responsible purchase for your car.

The officer did compliment my car too and told me it was obvious I take really good care of it
