My car is going in today for fuel pump and to have tranny looked at. I have already removed my strut tower bar and my Blox 490 heavy shift knob. I am not giving the dealer any cop out. My dealer has been real good but i've read threads of dealers calling cars "heavily modified" when all they had was a catback and some aero work.

Just sucks that so many dealers are acting like this...for your 4th gear, is it at 4k+ rpms?

Keep us posted on today!

Yeah about that or just a little north of it. I can reproduce this event every time.

Get going 50 to 55mph in 3rd and shift to 4th. Basically On and off ramps when up shifting and down shifting.

My dealer has been very good in the past but I have held out writing an online review until this. My car started doing it about 5-6k miles ago. Iv'e driven over 15,000 miles in six months of ownership.

Car goes in tonight for service tomorrow, I will post my results here instead of making another thread, unless a do a transmission compilation thread with everything in one place. But that won't stop new posts so may not be worth the time but would be a helpful tool.

If fluid is changed (oil/brake/trans/diff/windshield/blinker) with something that meets the "requirements"/"certifications" they cant void your warranty.

OP, where did you buy the car from? Toyota? Private party? Random dealer?

And what dealers are doing "free of charge" transmission oil changes?
I got it second hand, but it was purchased from official Toyota dealer first hand, car is under warranty right now.

I didnt understand your second question. But i paid for the transmission fluid change, brake pad change, oil cahnge, coolant change and some other things today, they are saying only serious engine, transmission or electrical/electronical problems are in included in warranty change.

By the way, my problems about transmission are still there, no change at all except gear changes are a little smoother. I even felt the extra noise coming from the clutch more and with additional "diesel motor like" sound.

These guys were pieces of stupid smartpants, it took 1 hour to investigate the problems last time, i was watching all the way from the window, 12 people ware checking one car, all they did was stand around the car (11 of them) and take phone pictures couse it was the first time they see this car, one of them had a flashlight and checked the paint, tires, door handles etc..., then he sat inside and continued same actions, moved the gear lever (the most logical action he did), he didnt even open the hood, didnt even lift up the car, didnt start the engine, didnt turn the wheel, didnt check anything for one whole hour!
Then after their supervisor (he wasnt even in these 12 people, so he didnt check the car) took a 3 min drive, he said no problem. I insisted on problems and he said car is allready loud so it doesnt matter even if there are some small sounds coming from somewhere, i wouldnt recognize, so i am making it up, then he started laughing in a priggish way like i was too picky, and stated that i dont understand mechanics.
I fckn love China.

Trust me. If you say "I want a new transmission under warranty".
They will say "NO it is behaving normally"
Then you say "OK inspect the trans fluid and we'll see how it goes, or I'll call corporate for a new transmission".

Guess what???? You'll get a free trans fluid change UNDER WARRANTY
Unfortunately, that didnt work out here.

SO update for all those who are interested. I have attached the text they sent me. Basically no error code is coming up, so there is nothing wrong. They test drove it and said it was normal. They also told me to shift to 4th before 55, I told them to go f*ck themselves, nicely of course.

I talked with them on the phone for several minutes and told them the car did not do this when I bought nor did it for the first 10,000 miles so no it is not normal and I am not accepting your answer.

I contiunued to speak with them about how I went out of my way to bring my car back to there dealership because we have had a very good relationship, and my dealer is great. However, I have moved and they are and hour away, with 3 bridge tolls.

The man I was speaking with assured me that they get paid for warranty work, and would gladly do the work, however there is no codes, so they cannot get authorization to do the work from Subaru. I told him the problem is most likely mechanic.

To sum it all up, I will be driving the master tech and service manager around this afternoon when I pick up my. I will stay professional and persistent, there is an issues with the transmission and it will get fixed.

lmfao..."no trouble codes present"

You could remove the suspension on the car and (try) and drive around and there would be no "trouble codes". Must mean nothing is wrong, right?

I can't stand dealers.

Then you didnt even get them to go through the transmission failure troubleshooting steps.

One of the first transmission troubleshooting steps is to "inspect transmission fluid" for metallic particles or discoloration.
To do that they need to drain the fluid from the drain plug, and (assuming they dont put the old fluid back) you get a free fluid change.

Ask the technician to show you what codes would show up as transmission problem.

Hint: there arent any.

Lol 'just shift before 4k'

That's like fixing a wheel wobble by never getting on the freeway. Fuck dealerships.

I gave the service manager a ride, and another tech, and they admitted to some gear grinding. I will be giving a ride to the master tech next week, who will be the one in the organization to diagnose the issues.

The service adviser re-ensured me that they want to do the warranty work because they get paid for it, but they have to follow SOA stupid rules.

Worst part was an asshole throwing change out his window at my car on the highway, more on that to come in the NorCal section, as the police and I are currently trying to find this psychopath.

Were you tailgating?
I have been known to lose a penny or two (or a handful) out the sunroof of my previous car if another driver thought he was a dog and wanted to sniff my ass even after a couple of "brake check" warnings....

I did nothing but point to the middle lane after I passed him, didn't tail gate him because I wasn't behind him, and didn't even cut him off.
