The doors also open wide and if you park in tight parking lots, be careful not to swing it too wide, but then it becomes a pain to get in and out with minimal clearance. You kind of just have to fall into the seat sometimes haha.

I have driven my friend's 3.8 genny a number of times and rode in it plenty, so thats the closest comparison I can give you.

Cons of the BRZ compared to the Genny.
Speakers are worse, less room in the back, less trunk space, annoying to get out of the car sometimes, interior is worse quality, minimal eletronics(could be a pro~) (e.g no buttons on the wheel, simple infotainment system), less sound deadening (lots of wind noise, sound generator on the passenger side (could delete this), Both cars rattle in time, but in my experience it was easier to get rid of any rattles in the BRZ (look around the forum to see), little torque! compared to the 2.0T - much cheaper to make the 2.0T faster HP/$ wise. Smaller wheels/brakes (depending on what trim of the 2.0T you get)

That is a lot of cons haha

Now, Pros of the BRZ compared to Genny.
Steering feel/feedback is a million times better - the genny feels like I'm driving my Mom's lexus. BRZ is much little lighter, nimbler and smaller - the genny is a boat but the 3.8 is damn quick haha, BRZ revs like 1k higher (I think?), I have limited experience driving manual in both cars but I prefer the BRZ's shifter, I have driven both cars in automatic and the BRZ's slushbox is better IMO, cheaper Mods (Genny mods cost A LOT, but you'd get much more HP/$ with the 2.0T probably), BRZ gets better MPG, BRZ is more fun to throw around (subjective opinion xD). And to add one more, I think the BRZ will be cheaper to maintain so in the long run with gas/mods/services/repairs/etc you'll save more getting the BRZ.

If you'll be in traffic a lot and/or not really getting out and driving it for fun, have to seat ppl in the back, long drives, etc...get the Genny is my objective opinion.
I Love my BRZ but 5/7 days of the week I can't enjoy it fully.

TLR: The genny is a lot more practical (more torque for daily driving, more room everywhere, and less noisy, less MPG but I THINK you could fill with 87 OCT)

P.S. Sorry for the long and messy composition! Best of luck to you tteokbokki! Ah since you're in Florida...the AC in the BRZ sucks but the Genny's isn't much better either lol
DUDE, thank you for this post. You hit the point perfectly and I really appreciate that.

10 points for knowing what tteokbokki is! Are you perhaps from the motherlands? hahaha

I did the math for the MPG/$ on both cars and Genny was still marginally more expensive for less miles even when filling it with 87 in my area. (about $15 more to fill up full tank, 30~ miles less per full tank)

That's one of the reasons I like the BRZ better. If only the BRZ had nicer interior....

I'm 24 and have a bad back already, I feel like I'm 60 getting in and out of it haha especially after a leg day the gym. If you really want the car go for it. it's worth it unless your gf hounds you non stop for 5 years

I recently traded in my S2k for a BRZ. I am unsure if my wife has issues getting into the car, but that was never a concern for me. I did duiscuss it with her and she just wanted for me to be happy, and I am.

The car sits higher then my s2k did also. I don't think it's too low at all. My wife doesn't complain either. Although she never complained about getting in/out of the S2k.

I'm 6'5"/250 lbs, and not especially thin, so here's my thought as someone that takes more effort to get down to the ground and then get back up.

It IS low to the ground. That's just life. But it's not that low. If you had a Cayman or Corvette or whatever it would be even lower. I was actually surprised driving my car around at how many other cars were actually lower than mine. Getting out gives you the opportunity to work on your deep squat technique.

There is room to get in and out. Even if you're parked right next to someone else and can't open your door all the way. Being parked super close presents a challenge, but it does with any car. Roll the window down if you're short on room. P.S., I haven't had to do this yet. Shut up. I'm not fat.

For what it is and what it's supposed to be, it is actually very practical. It's got a lot of trunk space, a somewhat usable back seat, and the interior is streamlined enough that you don't need to have a lot of extra space to be comfortable in the car. I've done two cross-country-and-back road trips on mine, with a few weeks' stay in the middle, and I've been able to carry everything just fine. And some car washing stuff to keep it clean. It's not ever going to have the room of a Ford Fusion or Nissan Altima, but it's not in their class of car, either. It's a small 2 door sports car; you can't expect more than that.

As far as the FR-S vs. a Genesis 2.0t, it depends on what you want. The Genesis is more cushy, has more space, has more power, and has a softer ride. On the other side, it's bigger, it's heavier, it wallows in turns, and it kind of drags itself around everywhere instead of wanting to run. The FR-S is smaller, lighter, more nimble, and turns much sharper, but it has a firmer ride and less storage space. I would compare the Genesis to Mustangs and Camaros, not to the FR-S. I would compare the FR-S to an S2000 or a Miata MX5.

The Genesis is more practical. It has more space, the back seat is more usable, it has more storage space. The FR-S is more fun. Driving the Genesis coupe is no different than driving a 4 door Genesis sedan, it's just a different exterior shape. Driving the FR-S is a joy in and of itself. The steering feel and taut handling make any other quirks much less important.

I bought my BRZ and it's my only car. I'm completely happy with it, and it makes me smile every time I walk out to get in.

Why worry bout back seat? Future kid? Just say... you knock her up and had a baby in give or take in an yr. You still got near 10yrs til you need to worry bout that kid have backseat leg space issue. Gonna have problem putting a kid in the back seat? Very true that having actual back seat or not, it's a bitch if you own a COUPE. That include GC. I've seen several pics of twin owners putting baby/kid seats.

Now, back to the low ride. Yes, twins are very low to the ground... but is it lower than other sports/sporty cars? No, actually not really. Corvette, Elise, few Ferrari, Lambo, & few other cars. I've seen over 60yo couple driving this car, getting in & out without complaining. Not sure how old you guys are, but I think it's too early to complain bout how low the car is.

If you're worrying bout back seat and low ride, I wouldn't recommend buying twins or GC. I would recommend WRX, STI, Focus ST, ISF, IS350 F Sports, GS 350, Q50, TL, RL, M3, M6 & some of those sporty sedans.

Again, don't take this as offensive. All I'm saying is it's your choice, no one else's decision, so take my feedback is grain of salt too.
You put it a little more delicately, so thank you.

I do agree that in the end it is my decision, and she feels that way too! I don't want people to think i'm just getting swayed by her, but rather I'm taking her opinion into consideration (cause that's what older people do in a relationship...)

The low ride is mostly about skirts, not necessarily the comfort or anything. Personally I don't give a crap as long as my car looks good hahahaha.

In any case, you have a point about the back seats among coupes... it's not BRZ's fault, but rather because I chose a coupe style.

It is quite true, however, that GC has much more room in the back.

Honestly, i don't think it matters since the only time I'd have people in the back is with my 3 best friends (whom all said they would find a way to fit in the back if it was a BRZ).

Thanks for the feedback though!

Throw her in the trunk. Problem solved.

In all seriousness though. There's an art to getting in and out of "low" cars. She'll get used to it.

OP if you are worried about your GF with space and future kids then get a sport sedan like the STI or reg WRX. It has turbo/AWD and more power plus the room you need.. One problem I have with the BRZ is wanting to drive with friends I love taking the car out no matter what reason and when there is more than 1 person its a pain to say "Sorry there isn't enough room " I never had a problem with AC I keep it at the lowest setting and during summer about mid setting, it gets so cold sometimes I actually have to turn it off.

Having friends in the back still works, but if you like keeping things clean then it will become a problem. When your trying to sit safely comfortable to drive with people in the back it is kind of annoying to drive because how close you are to the steering wheel and when shifting you will knock elbows lol

My wife ( 5'8" ) drives the Gen Coupe, I drive the BRZ, she loves her car, but she also thinks my car is more fun and she has never complained about it being too low so we always take my car when we go somewhere together. She's a jeans kind of gal though, so she doesn't have to deal with getting in and out of my car with a dress on (except for the occasional event that requires it).

We also throw our 10 year old daughter in the seat behind her, no complaints from either.

The Gen Coupe is like an SUV when I sit in it compared to the BRZ, even on the lowest seat setting, but its a GT, not a little sports car.

That bad huh?

When it comes to taking my friends around, we all have cars so it shouldn't be a big deal... Only one of them lives close enough for to be considered any concern.

It'll be a pain having my dad, sister and gf in the BRZ on the way back home after the purchase though! lol

Done and done, but she sat in the backseat during the FR-S test drive, and to make matters worse the dealer was an a**hole.

Genesis dealer kindly sat in the back instead, so kudos to him there... maybe that's the reason she likes the Genny better.

From the perspective of a 5'5" 110 lb girl who has a BRZ as a daily driver, yes it is low to the ground, I find it slightly more difficult to get out of than to get in, but if she's small, she'll have a much easier time than a tall guy would. (It's hilarious to watch my 6'3" boyfriend trying to get out of the car)

I'd say go ahead and buy it and tell her to be careful not to flash everyone when she's wearing a dress/skirt since getting in and out can be an art form compared to larger vehicles.

OH MAN YOU GET TO DRIVE BOTH

now that would be the life man...

my gf is more of a mini cooper kinda girl who also cares more about crash safety and room in the car than speed/looks/etc.

although she did say she'd want a charger if she got a sports car, which I thought was kind of sexy

Nice! I heard the twins were popular among females too... not sure why my gf hates the looks of it on the contrary.
