Negative attention

HI,
I was wondering if you guys receive negative attention for driving/owning a BRZ/FR-S.

I have about 8,000 miles on the car so far, and at first I got a ton of lookers and tons of questions about it when I stopped to get gas or at a light. Going to a different (smaller) town definitely attracted the locals and the authorities.

My most recent positive: leaving the gym with my windows down, at a stop light a kid yells out "I like your car." I said thanks like I always do.

After I first got my BRZ, I was driving through the parking lot in my complex, and this bull dyke lesbian who lived relatively near me, (she lives MUCH closer now) started walking out towards my car as I was driving through. She made a B line directly for me. I had to stop and alter my path or I would have hit her. I was not sure what the hell was going on. I let it go and chalked it up as someone who was envious and I felt sorry for someone who has possible identity issues. Pure speculation on my part. She always seemed to have a scowl on her face every single time I saw her, even before my new car.

I recently got some immature neighbors in my apartment complex. I met one of them soon after they moved in, and one of them complimented my car. He was smoking on his patio. The next morning I was leaving for work and someone had flicked a cigarette at my car. It hit just above the drivers window. The immature neighbors have been a problem with their bass. It has been such a problem, that after banging on our shared wall numerous times, I finally called the front office and complained. They continued. I called a week or so later and officially requested a written warning. I have not heard a peep out of them since.

Yesterday I washed my car. I just sprayed it down with soap and high pressure water. Not the cleanest job ever, but it gets rid of most of the dirt.
This morning I was leaving for work, and I opened the trunk to throw my bag in and I noticed some dried liquid residue all over the spoiler. It was like a dried pool of something. It seems intentional, but I am not sure and I don't want to get angry over something that may or may not be intentional.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to paint the picture well enough to describe the scenario.

Sounds like it might be the people that are the problem, not so much because of your car. Sorry to hear, hope they don't try and eff with your shit.... hate that...

I'd buy a dashcam just in case. Things like this happened to a friends Honda civic which he had done some work too. It escalated to the point were he had bricks thrown through front and rear windscreens.... I doubt it will ever come to this but I wouldn't risk it.

All it takes is for them to come home drunk one night and want to FSU : /

I had issues were I used to live so I started parking in front of the security camera in front of the leasing office at my apartment complex.

I suppose when people get to know your soft spot (car), they tend to target it when they are not in the right state of mind.

Problem is not within the car you drive, it's within the one(s) who are giving you a difficult time, for one reason or another.

Hope this gets resolved for you.

I have a rule to not fuck with people who know where I park my car at night.

I agree with everyone else, it sounds like the problem here is your neighbors. You can get a front/back facing dashcam if you're worried about vandalism. Alternatively you could try installing a camera on the building to monitor the parking lot. My buddy maintains an apartment building and he put cameras up in the parking area. He has caught so much weird shit on film.

It's not the car. It's your neighbour pissed off at you because you complained about him.
The dyke was angry because she was channelling the old Alanis Morrisette.

It's not the car, I can tell you that much. Ever stop and think: "I might not be a saint, but why's everyone hating on me where I live?"

but in all seriousness, I wonder if there is a way to add a second battery and remote charge the car once you go to sleep so if anyone gets too close to it at night it/ll give them a nice pacemaker jump

Haha unfortunately I don't have any of the footage, but once someone broke into my truck right in the middle of the day. We caught him as we were walking out the front door. We looked at the camera footage and found that he was just kinda circling around the truck for about an hour before he decided to break in. Bad timing on his part I suppose. As we confronted him, he jumped back, put his hands in the air, and said "I thought it was my friend's truck!" then ran off around the block. Cops were called but nothing ever came of it. A couple weeks later, we looked at some new footage and found that there was, in fact, an identical truck parked in the same spot as mine was...

Other events include some random person disassembling his front fence in the middle of the night, a handful of hit-and-runs from people doing illegal u-turns, and lots of people just standing in the middle of the street for no reason

The residue on the spoiler could be residue from rain or washing without towel drying. This happens to my car on a regular basis where the spoiler meets the trunk and also on the roof line where it dips down. Water pools up and pollen / dust collects then dries.
