that's called a driver knowing what the car can do. he wasn't even late braking it cause there was no smoke going into corner entry. he knew how late he could brake with the nsx-r.

the brz driver on the other hand didn't late brake but braked 50yds too early.

Interesting post from TTAC:
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...st-showed-you/
Quote:
The finishing order and best laps:

Toyota GT-86 – 1:46.0
Subaru BR-Z – 1:47.1
MX-5 Fabric Top – 1:48.6

Now for the observations:

This test was rigged to favor the Miata. Not in the obvious sense of putting the Miata P1 on the grid, although that was done, but in the sense of having the Miata driver turning the fastest, most careful laps. The guys driving the twins (one of which is noted drifter Keiichi Tsuchiya) are goofing around and throwing time away — most obviously in Lap 3 where Tsuchiya is screwing around to make the finish closer. The Miata driver is putting his head down and hitting his marks. It’s safe to assume that the true gap between the twins and the MX-5 is more than the 2.6 seconds per lap shown in the video. The Jalopnik commenters who are frantically typing “OMFG TEH MIATA IS LIKE SO CLOSE DESPITE HAVING NO POWER LOL ITZ TEH BEST” are failing to understand this.
And at the end...

Quote:
Watching this video doesn’t do a single thing to dull my desire to own a Scion FR-S. If anything, the sheer fun everyone is having is quite infectious. My application to be one of the “First 86″ was denied, but maybe I should go have it out with the local Toyota dealer anyway. It’s what Gan-San, who is sadly missing from this video and who would have given all these pups a solid thrashing, would do.
Note: Baruth is noted for his preference to drive cars hard and track them (his previous cars included a S5 and a Porsche Boxster S, and a 944 IIRC)

I'll give you that... Even the Miata almost passed him on that corner. That was a misjudged braking entry.

It looked as though the 86 and BRZ had significantly less body roll than the MX-5. Not surprising considering all we've heard concerning the ultra low CoG, but awesome to see in practical application.
Keiichi "Drift King" Tsuchiya. Wow. Thanks so much for the video!

It's common knowledge: When you stop braking is more important than when you start braking.

The BRZ driver played it safe and started braking ~0.5s early.

The NSX-R driver braked late far too many times and the car overheated.

Both are excellent drivers. They don't "suck"...

oh he sucks as a professional racing driver...

seriously did you read my posts? i said he either sucked or it was fixed intially. posters mentioned who he was and what he's done so i took away the previous suck statement and said that it was fixed or he intentionally slowed down for the GT.

you guys are worst than F1 fans when it comes to whose the better driver.

Have all 28 of your posts been from this thread? Lawl.

The first thing I noticed was how flat the twins were compared to the Miata in those turns.

The only thing that this video proved re: BRZ vs FR-S is that they're so close that it's up to the driver. Which is as it should be.

its not a conspiracy lol. it was a simple racing manuever. he braked late, took away the other guys line and forced him to the outside, thereby overtaking him.

Great vids!

But, wow, those cars are slow...

Looking forward to seeing a Stig driving it on Top Gear.
