yup, they made that just for Tsukuba's final corner.
Anyways, it's kinda interesting to hear most of AE86 owner's opinion matched w this forum member opinion bout FT86. I didn't expect Keiichi Tsuchiya wanted turbo ver. I totally expected NA. |

Too bad the CBY AE86 had to bow out. Love their fenders, exhaust, and front bumpers....

I wish I could understand Japanese, or have subtitles. What are they saying about the FT86?

Yes please, I'd like a translation of the last posted video with the discussion of the FT-86. I don't know how easy that would be for you guys, but we'd really appreciate it!

K, I just translating this one quickly (forgot that I was working today).
Asked AE86 owners, their opinion/wish for Toyota FT-86 "If it was 1500000 yen then I'll buy it asap" "10,000 rpm redline" "Please make it cheap as possible" "Make it lighter chassis" "Please make it under 200000 yen" "Make it Godanba size (I have no clue what that is.)" "Please make it FT-86 turbo. I'll buy it many as needed" "Cheap enough that everyone can buy it" "Personally, please put a lot of effort into building a NA engine" **couldn't hear what he said** "Make it as 4 numbers" "...bout 1200000 yen, I guess" "Don't want any high tech stuff, cuz you can't mod it by yourself" "Make it lighter and put smaller wheels" "Put Turbo on it" "Prefer straight 4..." "Light, make it light FR" as for Taniguchi, Orido & Tsuchiya, I'll do it in few hrs later (when I'm on lunch break). Taniguchi Nobuteru aka NOB "From the beginning the customer that buy the FT-86 can modify. You can mod your style. Don't want too much power, transmission breaks and drive shaft breaks. I hope they will sell FT-86 light weight, cheap, and fun to mod." Orido Manabu aka Max "I started from Hako racing, so wish to see FR layout **** race (some kind of race, but couldn't hear what he said) become popular again. Take off all the tech stuff, so it's easier to mod it, make it as tuning base car. Chassis looks modern day car and looks awesome, so I have high expectation." Tsuchiya Keiichi "As long as it has 86 on the name, I wish to see this car surpass AE86... present anyways. 1980's 86 was extremely outstanding performance. As for FT-86 that is releasing in 2011, long as it take upon the name 86, it have to be the 21 century's 86. Also modern days, not NA only, but have turbo, time attack grip style. If it has turbo can have fun drifting. I hope to see it release it that. As for right now, there is only NA... but with our power to convince the maker to make Turbo ver. No matter what, I wish for Turbo ver." rest of the vid, I'll do it later again... Last edited by ichitaka05; 05-24-2010 at 09:23 PM. |

Alright final part of the vid...
Tada's comment "I can feel their wishes written. Sounds like everyone wants a common car... some sports car that you can actually control. FT-86's direction? Reason why 86 been loved this long is I think cuz of tuning shop and owners, supported... the sports car currently making, I wish to follow the same supports, so that's one of the reason named it 86. Is there gonna be motor sport grade base? I will make sure to make that kind of grade or model. Will be making one that people will say "You gonna go this far?" If fan's sent more wishes/comment letters like today's, we still have time so we'll use these wishes as reference and make it... so we'll be waiting for more wishes/desires letters. From Tsuchiya-san's request, he want a Turbo model haha, oh~ I see... in coming Tokyo Auto Salon (2010, not the future one), as for one of tuning variation... or one of the evolution model... something Tsuchiya-san's is imagine/requested will be display... so please check. " Alright, that's bout it. Just let everyone know, it's not 100% perfect translation, so if it didn't make sense... o'well and some of you that is Japanese, if you see some mistake that I made you're more than welcome to correct it. I only had 4 hrs of sleep, so my brain isn't working properly. lol Last edited by ichitaka05; 05-22-2010 at 12:07 AM. |
