Transmission problems

Hi everyone, i'm having some issues with transmission and i want ask if other people have these issues too or did i make a mistake when buying this 2nd hand car.

1- There is an extra noise coming from crank i guess when at neutral, this slight extra noise goes away when i press the clutch.

2- There is a loud and deep "clunk" noise while going to 1st gear, not for other gears.

3- This is the most annoying one. When i'm down shifting from 6th to 5th quickly, there is a disastereous short "grrrchh" sound like if i havent pressed the clutch enough. It doesnt happen if i wait like 2 seconds at n while clutch is pressed and then rev match to 6th. It is olso feels like there is a "stuck" feel coming from right side when moving the gear lever to 5th, at all times that is the exact place when this sound appers.

Car is at 12.000km, didnt change the transmission oil yet.

Would appriciate if anyone could share their experience about if "1" and "2" are normal as the car comes at first hand, and someone please help me about "3", i hate it so bad

Thanks in advance

1. Throw Out Bearing-Many people have this noise, presumed to be just a noisy part

2. 1st gear is a little clunky-so Normal

3. Not too good. Lot of issues with 4th, 5th and 6th reported by forum members. But try some things first.

Change the tranny fluid, check the shifter and check the clutch pedal level.

Yes i will change oil first and see what happens, service is the last option for me here in China, i'm sure they have no idea.
What do you mean by bearing? Can you show a picture of it or explain where it is please.

Careful changing the fluid! A dealer could use it as an excuse if you go for a warranty claim.

My car is going in Tomorrow to have fuel pump replaced and to have tranny looked at. shifting into 4th sounds and feels horrible.

There are many threads on this issue, and unfortunately it is kind of common

press the clutch pedal and the sound will gone . you have bad worn clutch dice spring. if so replace the clutch dice.

the throw bearing clutch die . so replace it and if the Diaphragm spring damaged replace all the clutch .

press the clutch for one minute and go to 1th gear without released the clutch. if no clunk noise that's mean the MT is Spins with the engine after press the clutch . if it still clunk adjustment the clutch .

Mine was grinding going from 5th to 6th and also down shifting into 5th or 4th. Acting as though I wasn't holding the clutch in all the way. Toyota deemed it "Bad syncros in 5th and 6th" and they replaced the transmission free under warranty @40K.

I went to the local service today and explained my issues with the transmission and very obvious braking scratch sound that i didnt mention before here.
They took a 3 minute ride, came back and gave me the exact answer i was expecting from them: "mei wen ti" meaning no problem, even for the incredibly loud, obviously feelable on the pedal brake problem and refused to change the transmission or clutch, olso refused to check the gear allignments, even refused to take a look at the brakes.
I dont belive that i would have any better result elsewhere in China.
So will try changing the transmission oil and see, except to live with it if no change and hope it will go away in time.

BAD ADVICE! DO NOT do anything to it! It is under warranty.
If you mess with it the dealer can "try to" deny warranty coverage.

When you have a problem with a new car under warranty TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.

Now - if the dealer says that is all normal, then tell them you would like them to replace the trans fluid.
They should do it free of charge even after telling you "it wont make a difference".

SO questions to those of you had this problem. Can I argue that the bad transmission has caused abnormal wear and tear and stress on my clutch and have that replaced as well?

Sometimes shifting into 2nd, the car acts if the clutch pedal is not pressed in, when I will have the pedal all the way down.

I allready asked them to change the trans. oil, but it is not free of charge, nothing is free of charge except big engine, transmission or electrical problems they said. The car is not brand new btw, around 13.000km.
But will keep in mind that they might deny warranty if they understand if i used another trans.oil, just cant imagine how they would understand if i used another oil.

where does it state they can deny/try to deny warranty because the fluid was changed?

If fluid is changed (oil/brake/trans/diff/windshield/blinker) with something that meets the "requirements"/"certifications" they cant void your warranty.

OP, where did you buy the car from? Toyota? Private party? Random dealer?

And what dealers are doing "free of charge" transmission oil changes?

The dude is in China so throw all the rules that you are used to straight out the window!
There is very little consumer protection there so what we think of as unfair or wrong is just standard business practice.
We deal with Chinese suppliers all the time at work and have very little recourse when they screw us over.

I said they would TRY
It is just common sense. If you have a problem with a car under warranty do not try FIRST to fix it yourself.

Trust me. If you say "I want a new transmission under warranty".
They will say "NO it is behaving normally"
Then you say "OK inspect the trans fluid and we'll see how it goes, or I'll call corporate for a new transmission".

Guess what???? You'll get a free trans fluid change UNDER WARRANTY

There is a post on here were a dealer attempted to void warranty based on the fluid. Something to do with viscosity and any but the subaru / toyota product matches the spec. I will try and find the post.

My car is going in today for fuel pump and to have tranny looked at. I have already removed my strut tower bar and my Blox 490 heavy shift knob. I am not giving the dealer any cop out. My dealer has been real good but i've read threads of dealers calling cars "heavily modified" when all they had was a catback and some aero work.
