That's exactly what i've thought, as well. I do like the look of the stock tails at night - i like the circle of LED's, but just didn't like all the chrome during the day. So, i switched them out to clear Tom's, and i'm very happy with them.

That being said, this is still one of my favourite shots of the rear of my car, with the stock tails.

I completely agree. I absolutely loved the GT86 at first test drive, lights and everything.
I feel very, very lucky because I have saved SO much money on mods I don't want ;-)
I have basically done 3 things to my car since I got it:

1. Steering wheel badge for giggles

2. Rexpeed wide mirrors for a slightly better view
3. Pilot Super Sports on Enkei rims for a little more grip

All of these 3 enhances how much I enjoy my car, in reasonable proportion to the cost of each one. (First 2 were cheap.)

I have loved my GT86 for 33.000km through eleven European countries, including a bunch of Swiss mountain passes and a 3 days at the Nürburgring. And there is no tail light in existence that would make me feel any better while driving. So why would I want to spend money on something that is just fine as it is?

I personally think the 86/GT86 taillights provide the car with an elevated/upscale look compared to the FRS.

I love driving my car. In fact, I actually miss it when I'm out on a business trip for two or three weeks driving bland rentals.

But I also like seeing my car, because it really is a fine looking machine. I don't sit and stare at it, and I'm not a religious nut about washing it. I just smile sometimes when I get home from a trip and see it sitting there waiting to go for a drive.

So I'm not above a tasteful cosmetic mod I can't see from inside the car if it makes me feel happy when walking up to it. The only visual enhancements I've made so far are tint (which REALLY added to the look of the car, besides being functional), clear front side markers (with amber lamps) and Tom's tails. I have a set of RPF1s I haven't put on it yet, but I'm waiting until I burn off the stock tires first. After that, there's really not anything more I plan to do to the outside, because it came from the factory almost perfect.

The Tom's tails maybe make it look 5% or 10% better than stock. To me, that really wasn't a whole lot of money to get an inch or two closer to perfection.

I like the overrall design of the tailamps, just not all the chrome, if I had the balls to cut open my housings i would have sprayed them in a heartbeat, Why couldnt thay just be normally sealed instead of fused.

My car is silver. The stock lights look good on silver.

I have answered that question a few times, so I'd better make it clear I do not receive kickbacks from http://86steeringwheelbadge.com :-)
Just a happy customer. I paid less than the current price, though. Oh, and I am told it doesn't fit the FR-S steering wheel.

Superb photos! Those really demonstrate that the stock GT86 tail lights are elegant and works very well with the rest of the design.

The difference between the GT86 and the FR-S tail lights is a valid point, though. Rear side marker lights would be illegal in Europe, I believe.

Mine's Raven and I like the stock tails on it just fine. I have no intention of changing them at all. Most aftermarket tails miss on two points for me, I don't like any of the looks and I definitely don't like the prices!

I hate the stock tails.

I love the design, don't get me wrong. But I despise chrome. Aside from headlights (especially on an FRS) there's no chrome on the car. Why are the tails a giant chunk of chrome?

Come spring I'm blacking out the interior of the tails and possibly tinting them red.
