I'm with you - love the stock taillights, BUT I do see how this is highly dependent on what color car you have.

I find the Toms looks great on any color but red. That's why i'm keeping the stock on mine. Looks better in my opinion.

Disagree. The stockies look tight on Hot Lava.

I agree! Was pondering all sorts of options because something with all the chrome on each side of the car but just the emblem in the centre didn't quite balance out in my eyes. Threw a nice bright chrome licence plate frame on and VOLIA continuity!

Yea stock ones on Firestorm I prefer. That being said Whiteout with TOMs seem to be made for each other.

The guys over at Diode Dynamics have pretty much made the factory taillights perfect. I have a set of buddy clubs that are probably no going to be making it onto my car.

I think if I was forced to modify my taillights I'd probably go with the smoked Grazio's. Still the stockies just reconditioned.

But for the meantime I'm very happy with the stocks. Who's with me?
I definitely agree. I have ultramarine and I think the stock tails look great on it. I don't think I would want to change them - however - I really do like the option DD has. I may be picking those up soon for sure.

My car is also red. I agree the stock tails suit Red probably the best. Especially at dusk.

i agree with the OP OEM or JDM....I think im so used to the HONDA community though. If your headlights/tailights is anything other then OEM or JDM your getting flamed.

I like the OEM tails. My only mod is LED turn lamps and a digital flash module. The vehicle is easily recognizable from a distance at night. Toms are $250 nice not $500+ nice.

I'm not a huge fan of the OEM tails EXCEPT for the black reflector mod. When I first heard that described, it sounded like it would look like shit. But it really does look damned good on the car.

I have black/clear Tom's, but I may mod my OEM tails to black at some point in the future if I get bored with the Tom's tails.

I agree. The Tom's tails actually remind me of the stock tails on the newer VW Beetles.

It's hard to unsee that now, but I can live with it.

That's because the US federal government requires cars sold in the US to have front and rear side marker lights. That "red part" is actually the side marker light to make it compliant with federal law.

That depends on which Tom's you put on there. The red Tom's don't look right to me on a red car. But I have the black/clear Tom's on my red BRZ, and I think it works really well.

My only complaint with the Tom's tails is that the lens has a weird warp to it that makes it look cheap from certain angles. The OEM lens looks better. Maybe I'll take both sets apart and swap lenses.

You can get them for quite a bit less if you watch and wait. There are a couple of guys selling them on eBay for $410 to $420 shipped. That's still not $250, but it's better than $500.

I really like the stock tail lights. I find it funny that so many people mod them. Especially the guys that red them out because back before the Altessa style got popular in the late 90s and early 2000s most of the tail lights were all red. All the modders back then would switch out the all reds to aftermarket Altessa style tails. Now the twins come with a similar style to the Altessa and modders are redding them out or tinting them to look different. To me it looks 80s or early 90s.

I have honestly not seen an aftermarket tail that looks better than the stock factory units. I guess people just like to change stuff to make it different.
