AFRs are prolly out of whack at first, running lean to net some marginal gains, but when the ecu finally compensates, the drop-in prolly nets you next to nothing....just what I'm assuming based on my readings herein.

Was it 5 peak hp? I would be interested to see a graph overlay with dynos done on the same car, if the drop in filter has the same gains under the curve then that is pretty impressive (not being sarcastic)

FT86Speedfactory did some tests of different drop-in filters on the same car, same dyno. Can't search for the thread right now as I'm on the run, but if you can't find it, I'll link it later when I get home.

Edit: Here it is

This car wasn't stock. I'm guessing it had a drop in already, so to see a 5-6hp on top is pretty damn good.

No modern japanese OEM would put in a filter that would cost you 5-6hp. We've tested these on the MX5 (same airbox design, filer area, media, engine displacement), along with other vendors, and found 0 gain by taking the filter COMPLETELY out. What we've seen is that you can do a repeat test, and the IAM moves from .7 to 1 and you get 5-6 hp. We've seen back to back tests of 4th to 5th gear, and those show 3-5 hp. On the brz/fr-s you can show 3-6hp with just how you time the dyno runs. I know some of the testing in 2012 had shown gains, but that has been disproved by folks who know this platform and its quirks.

Running ethanol isn't legal in STX.
