I was exaggerating. It's just a little sore around the injection site, which I was told is normal.

Not looking forward to any other symptoms though, but whatever. I caught the flu after college graduation while trying to move out and never want to have to go through that again. Having the flu when you have no one to take care of you sucks.

I completely agree. Fortunately the fallout from the shot is much much less severe and only for three or four days.

WOW! Just. WOW!

Education. Ebola is not as easy to contract as you may think. Because of how relatively difficult it is to contract, the CDC was complacent in its duties.
.
Ebola has almost EXACTLY the same transmissibility as the FLU!
So WHY does everyone get a flu shot if it is so hard to catch??

Answer: it is NOT hard to catch, the govt. is just telling you that to keep people from panicing.

Irrational fears and actions are a path down a slippery slope.
I would say that the threat of a global Ebola pandemic is GREATER than the threat of global thermonuclear war.
Are you old enough to remember practicing "duck and cover" in public schools?

I am old enough and do remember the drills but I also remember that it never came to needing them in reality!
So I guess I agree that the threat is the same, which is to say it is "THREAT" but not necessarily will it be a reality.

Im probably going to get hate but the dr that had it should have never came back to america for the treatment. Obviously their must have been a reason for that, but then someone in texas got it and then apparently someone is georgia has it and some nurse got it on the plane? Now their going to fly that nurse to maryland since their are only 4 hospitals that can hold ebola patients. They should have just contained the ebola patients in one area instead of spreading them out, next weeks news is that someone else will catch ebola in the northeast. This is the part in one of those zombie movies where you know they effed up.

Ladies and Gentlemen, THIS is what happens when you read the title of every article you see posted on facebook, but don't actually read any of the information that is available.

I keep a watch on the news, other sources. I found out about the ship in Savannah Ga. at the ports through my brother on FB as he works at the ports, but he said the media there are making it seem more of a panic then anyone at the ports. So while i keep my eye on it, im not throwing my life savings at an under ground bunker ( actually have a friend that did just that for Y2K) but we do have more bottled water, canned food, and i picked up the cases of MRE's that i had in storage as a just in case thing. If we here it is spreading then we will take the kids out of school and limit leaving the house, but not until we hear its actually spreading. Luckily its not humid and stuff here in the desert of Vegas, but its a tourist spot and therefore people come all over the world here. Hell they quarantined a plane on the runway here because a kid threw up and had traveled in Africa. so i see steps being taken to help prevent the spread of it. closing down the flights from africa wont do anything. nothing stops someone from flying out of Africa to Italy, then Germany, then UK then here. of course the passport should be stamped but hey.. I cant even remember all the "diseases" that have suppose to wipe out humanity in the last couple decades, each time the media jumps on the paranoia of people for web clicks and sales.. What bird flu, Mad cow, H1N1(swine flu) Hell in the late 80's AIDs was going to wipe out everyone..

Everyone does not get the flu shot. Only the paranoid irrational people, the rest are the people who says "eh, why not?".

While I'm not letting it occupy my mind every winding second of the day, I have begun to make small preparations should a serious incident occur. I've been adding the occasional canned good to my grocery shopping as well as stocked up on hygienic products such as disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, etc. I've also began to increase my frequency in purchasing ammo. Why? Because you can never have enough ammo. While I'm not shutting myself out from the world I have made a conscious decision not to go out to crowded areas as much. I'll still go have dinner with my girlfriend and friends and activities like such. I'm just not in any hurry to go out to bars or sports games or anything of that sort as of now. Many of you who have chimed in saying people are overreacting are on the other side of the country. It's not the end of the world, but I'd like to be prepared should anything occur especially since I live in Dallas.
Stocking up on ammo? LOL

Sounds like you are watching The Walking Dead.

I had a client in Katy TX who had a house fire. According to a newspaper article the fire dept couldn't get close to the house as there was ammo going off all over the place.

Military, woo! it's mandatory for us poor pincushions. Although we do get a mist sprayed up our nose instead of a needle. Tastes horrible.

Also, my wife and kids. She almost died from flu that turned into pneumonia, so she takes no chances on it happening again. They get the needle though.
