You getting an Overpipe too? Don't forget that piece.

Edit: nevermind, I just saw it.

I'm getting JDL 3inch op/FP catless with resonator and Perrin 3 inch resonated. Already have a fbm turbo kit as well. Hopefully it won't be too bad

Like what others have said, forget the 3" Perrin and go with the 2.5" Perrin. Less drone and VERY daily- drivable.

Here's a full 3" setup with an uncatted UEL. FWIW i actually really enjoyed the sound and i personally hate loud cars.

@Jesse@JDLAutodesign I'll make a video as soon as my JDL turbo kit gets installed and when my 3" exhaust comes in from them. Thanks again Ronnie and Jesse for helping me and William Knose out!

Old thread, I know....
@rtyp3, how did you make out with the set up?

I am curious as I have the same exact set up besides the front pipe...which I am currently waiting on the 2.5" catted/resonated from nameless to replace my Perrin catted 2.5" front pipe...my set up is quite loud, granted I have a vortech kit thrown in the mix.

3" is a waste of money on N/A. You will feel it choke down low on take offs. Go with the 2.5". Even a 2.5" turbo setup is plenty for most, but you'll appreciate the sound much more.

Running the JDL UEL, JDL OP, JDL Catted FP, and Perrin 2.5" resonated and it couldn't sound more glorious and drone free than this.

Seems like you have the same goals for an exhaust setup as I do, any opinions on it after install would be greatly appreciated

Advice on 3" Exhaust Combo: JDL EL Catted Header, Nameless OP/DP, Perrin Cat-...

I ended up with:
1) JDL catted UEL Header
2) JDL 3" catted OP/DP with resonator
3) Perrin 3" Cat-back
Also ran Unichip.

Was definitely too loud for my tastes... Especially on cold-start. Ended up putting the factory OP/DP back on and contacted JDL, they were gracious enough to offer to send and try a 2.5" OP/DP they had. Just received it and haven't installed yet. I think it is the perfect volume and sound with just the UEL headers and cat-back, but I know I may be giving up a few HP until I throw on a better OP/DP.

However, since then I have removed the Unichip and installed OFT, which can be tuned to limit noise during cold start... So the 3" may be manageable at this point for some.

Here's my recommendations:
-if you're getting a tune which reduces cold start noise, 3" might be ok, otherwise stay away.
-if your like me, and don't want to appear like the teenager with the ridiculously loud tuner car driving into work, don't get the full 3" set up.
-if you don't care about noise levels being really high, you'll be fine. But then again, if you don't care about noise I doubt you would bother with resonators and dual cats unless you had to for emissions.
-after installation I agree with the other posters regarding not noticing the difference with 2.5" vs 3" unless running forced induction.

I probably won't put the 2.5" pipes on for a few weeks, but when I do I'll report back.

It was this article from Perrin that leaned me towards 3": http://blog.perrinperformance.com/3-...ults-and-tune/

They show additional HP benefit without any loss of power anywhere in the range -- in fact there was a lot of torque to be gained from 3" in the low (2500 - 3500 rpm) end.

Does anyone else have experience with this set up, or 2.5" vs 3"?
In that perrin article, as far as I can tell, they only change the cat back and the front pipe, not the overpipe. That might be why they don't see any loss in power In going with a 3" exhaust over the 2.5" exhaust. I have yet to see or find dynos with a full 3" header back exhaust, and I'm very interested to do so. Looking at getting this exact setup here pretty soon.

I'm in the same situation as the OP. Currently have a TRD cbe, looking to get Oft+Ofh. Since the OFH is a catless uel header, I want to get my OP and FP catted/resonator. What brand do you guys recommend? Nameless, Motiv, JDL, etc etc..

I have the same issue with rtyp.
I have 3" JDL UEL header, 3" JDL op, 3" JDL high flow catted FP, 2.5" ptuning midpipe with helmholtz resonator and 3" ptuning exhaust with dual muffler exit. Fitment is spot on when i work under the car and quality is one of the best i've seen.

HOWEVER....

It drones around 1-2k rpm, quiet around 3-4k rpm and loud all the way to redline. Cats and dogs jumped and run away when i start the car or accelerate. I even scared an old lady one time while i was passing by around the park.
Is there a quieter aftermarket exhaust? What about invidia Q300 or 2.5" perrin resonated?
what should i do to reduce the noise and drone?
Should I just go back to stock catback?

Q300 is your best bet if your looking for a quiet exhaust but in truth having a 3 inch exhaust isn't helping you either...
