I still don't know why you guys have this problem. I use the no-CarHome version as well, I never touch the radio app, and the suspend/quick-start function works flawlessly. o_0

He's probably not using the no-carhome version, just has it disabled in the normal ROM

There are two CarHomes. One is the one with screen with your source choices which is easy to disable with no adverse effects. The other is the android launcher called CarHome. In my opinion this launcher sucks and must be disabled to use another launcher. Disabling this breaks standby unless you remember to run radio before turning off car.

So essentially the navigation is going to be useless unless I have my phone set as a wifi tether? It can't just connect to my phone through bluetooth and use my data?

Basically my issue is that I have an iPhone 5. I use Google Maps a lot to get around town but I don't pay the extra $20 a month to Verizon to be able to use my phone as a hotspot. I don't really care about going over the data limit because my plan is old enough that it's not very expensive to go over but young enough that I don't have unlimited data.

I just want a head unit that will be able to do navigation, play my music off my phone, play spotify, and play the radio. I don't care about subs and amps, I don't care about Torque, and I don't really care about DashCommand. I do care about having IHeartRadio so I can listen to SportsTalk segments I missed while at work.

Help me with this, guys, you're my only hope.

You should be able to get a usb 3g/4g/LTE dongle to enable internet access with out having to tether. Another monthly payment, but a choice.

I know Verizon is not allowed to tell you you can't tether with the data you already paid for. The latest ones have tethering built in, but I don't know if the iPhone 5 has that built in normally. I did have a friend who tethered with his, but I'm pretty sure he had it jail broken.

It's a trade off. If you don't want to fool with your phone, the Ca-Fi is for you. If you want to use your phone, it's really not.
In case this hasn't been answered yet, there's a program for Windows called Cheetah sync, which if it's connected to your home wifi will automatically sync folders.

This unit doesn't support blue tooth tethering as far as I'm aware.

That said, you could just load a GPS app that doesn't require online connectivity for map loading. Something like Sygic or GoPilot perhaps.

In my experience Bluetooth tethering is wonky. Many apps just aren't able to use the connection. I believe Google play is one of them. Maybe it's time to make the jump to a tethering plan

Who here has a rock solid Torque setup, and what hardware are you using?

I've been using the following bluetooth dongle from Amazon, and it works about 75% of the time...
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008U1MOM8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: iSaddle Super Mini ELM327 V1.5 OBD2 OBD-II Bluetooth CAN-BUS Auto Diagnostic Tool for Windows & Android Torque (Blue Color): Automotive[/ame]

I also tried this USB OBDII dongle, but it didn't work at all, actually makes a bunch of warning lights come on my dash without being plugged in to the head unit. It may be bad...

As if someone was reading my mind, look what just popped up on Uncrate today:
http://uncrate.com/stuff/karma-go/

So basically I could pay as I go no matter how much data I use (which wouldn't be much with just spotify and navigation while I'm in the car) and I could just leave it in the car all the time.

This is a new model they're coming out with, I actually ordered an older one and I'll upgrade when the new one comes out but this would be perfect for anyone looking for a tethering option without having to pay a monthly fee.

Why would someone use bluetooth tethering for Internet connectivity? It's way slower and less reliable than WiFi.
