Sounds good to me. Yes, parking is pretty iffy. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant, but its usually full (lots of folks stopping by to get TAPEX). There is usually some spots open at the jack in the box next door

Hey guys I'm new to the forums and this is my first post. I've been doing a lot of lurking, studying parts and whatnot. I got the idea that maybe I could go to a local meet to get a better understanding of what the parts looked/sounded like (exhaust/intake/coilovers are the things I'm looking at right now). So I just have a few questions, I'm actually from east bay so maybe I can come through sometime and check your guys' stuff out. Can someone give the lowdown on Invidia q300 vs n1 vs HKS hi-power l spec exhaust? Have any of you guys heard anybody with these exhausts? I'm itching to get something but I still want to make sure I'm getting a good product. Also, what justifies the price hike for the HKS vs invidias? Is it just because it's JDM? My goal for this car is to make it as fun as possible as well as break necks btw if that helps. Let me know guys, I look forward to hearing/meeting you guys soon

Long story short, no it's not because it's JDM. It's because of the quality you get from HKS. If you have specific questions, I'm happy to help

I have the HKS Spec-L exhaust (with carbon fiber tips). It's not too loud where it's obnoxious but you can hear it come alive around 3-4K RPM.

You're more than welcome to come out and join us on Thurs but also on Friday night in Dublin we have our larger monthly meet up at Dublin Toyota. There's probably a higher chance of you seeing more cars with various exhausts come out for that meet.

Part of it is the JDM tuner price, but that also comes with years of proven, quality products behind them. There is a reason people pay those prices. They would go out of business if they charged that for crap. I am not saying Invidia is terrible quality as I have ran their exhausts and loved them as well. Get whatever you like the sound of the best. On this car I personally think the Invidia N1 sound terrible and much prefer the HKS, but thats mostly due to me wanting a deeper sound that you get better with quieter exhausts on this car. The q300 is one of the quieter ones actually but I have yet to hear one in person.

How do I quote multiple people? I think I'm just going to have to quote twice for now. That sounds good. You guys meet up in Dublin Toyota on Fridays? Any more specifics?

I'm think I got the double quoting but I'm not sure, just gonna check the box below and see what happens. Also another question I have is what's the difference between the spec l w/carbon tips and this

http://www.maperformance.com/hks-hi-...5PMhoCEbfw_wcB

(the HKS HiPower Spec L w/o carbon tips i'm assuming??)

It doesn't seem like the same exhaust with the carbon removed but it's also called the HKS HiPower Spec L... Pretty confused about that.

I'm looking for something with a real deep grumble (the kind that you get when you're trying to speed up from 20 on 3rd). Finch, you're saying that I will get that from the HKS vs invidia?

So where does the difference in pricing go towards? I understand quality now, but what do you guys mean by the quality? Like the welding? If all exhausts produce around the same HP (or am I wrong about that?), then what's the true difference? Will the HKS last longer?

I'm leaning towards the HKS more for sure now, it seems much more refined I guess. Thanks for your help btw guys

That's not what you told me. LOL. Isn't everything on your car JDM.

I've got the Q300 on my car, very quite, not much louder than stock with no other mods other than drop in filter.

It's a personal taste thing I think and it would be good to check them out in person before buying. A lot of people say the N1 has tons of grumble. It also matters what mods you plan down the road (headers, overpipe, font pipe). And when we say quality usually the refers to quality control. Fitment is more likely to be spot on and less likely to have a defective part. Not saying it can't happen with either or that the invidia won't be perfect (mine were in the past).

I'm super picky with exhausts and change fairly often once I start (went through 4 on my STi in 2 years). This car people don't seem as willing to trade so I'm taking my time in choosing. Currently my top choice is the Tanaba Medallion Concept G. If price where no concern the ARK is definitely where it's at. I'm still tempted to just save up for it. Lol
