New to Tuning... Simple Question

I'm looking into getting a tune in the next few months. One of my pet peeves about the BRZ is how the car idles in its stock form (RPM drops with AC on, engine shudders, chatter sounds when slowing, etc.). A few people have told me that this would all go away after a tune. Is that correct? Otherwise, I'll likely be making a trip back to the dealership soon.

I can vouch for the open flash tablet. Its definitely smoothed things out. The main benefit being coming out of first and reverse. Doesn't feel like the car is going to die anymore.

Generally most tuned roms are based on the latest compatible factory rom for your car so if your car was originally a 700C 900C A01C for example (american maunal car) ect it would be upgraded to a B01C. the latest factory rom suitable for your car these include a lot of fixs for idle stability especially with air-conditioner switching.

The D00C roms are for MY15 cars and may not be suitable for the older cars.

however the tuners generally make a few more alterations to make things even better. as well as add power ect especially if you have changed header/exhaust/intake

the torque dip arround 4k rpm is something all tuners improve on, to completly eliminate it you generally need aftermarket header and/or tune for E85.

but most tunes including oft tunes will vastly improve the torque dip

If for some reason I choose to not go E85, how does the OFT help a stock motor with the torque dip?
On my old 09 WRX i felt something similar except it was related to fuel not being delivered (a bad tune from the factory meant to help MPG). I got a basic tune and it leveled things out. I guess my question is, has anyone had the same sort of tune to simply make the car run more stable/consistent on 91/93?

Thats basically same reasoning as me, just wanted to reduce torque dip make it smoother and run better on the fuel that i have available and have to option to run a tune for header or e85 if I wanted to later on.

Stage 1 definitely runs better than stock rom. I still get dips on hot days but I've just learned to live with it. I have the A00C Rom. Torque dip is a little less but not all gone. From Dyno's UEL headers with OFT stage 2 tune takes away the dip completely where as the EL headers with Stage 2 reduces the dip but gets more HP top end.

Yes 100% stock will benefit greatly with the OFT Stage 1 ROM.
91 Gas, no drop in RPMs at idle, no annoying start up high revs when cold, torque dip almost unnoticeable, and 30 MPG.

With our OFT maps, the VVT maps (intake and exhaust) are revised to reduce the depth and width of the torque dip. It's still there to some extent but the "area" of the dip is reduced by ~50%. So it's definitely not as obnoxious as before with power coming back on a good 700rpm earlier than with the stock tune. Belo is an old post describing the changes we make. It's an old post so there have plenty of additional refinements but the basic meat and potatoes still hold true

The idle with OFT stg 1 91 tune is definitely better than stock. This is in part because the idle speed is higher than stock. There is also a nice bump in power and torque.

The torque dip is in noticeable in every gear if you are in the right rpm. It comes from the factory exhaust manifold being sub optimal, probably for a mix of space constraints, NVH and emission reasons. Shiv's OFT tune minimises the dip but doesn't remove it completely. Dyno graphs I’ve seen from certain headers flatten the dip out or some even give a bump in torque in that area. There is a shit tone of info on the dip and how to remove it on this forum if you do some searching. Also E85 doesn't eliminate the dip but the torque there is so much better that it doesn't stand out as much as the 91 tunes ler alone the stock tune.
