If you don't like what he's doing, simply do not read postings such as these. I seriously doubt he cares what you think nor anyone else whose advice is not constructive to his build. Do you even own a BRZ or FRS? lol |

Thanks man. I appreciate that. I really not even paying attention to the negative and welcoming the positive. Thanks to everyone that supports me and my crazy ideas. One guy on here already contacted me in regards to the swap. I didn't get a chance to shoot the breeze with him do to work, but I'll be calling him tomorrow for sure. Thanks again everyone ✌️

Curious to know how the car would feel after the v8 swap. Isn't there already a kit made for an lsx swap?

I wonder how altering the engine type would change the characteristics of the car. I will come out and say that I was never a real fan of Subaru motors and their complexities. It's too bad they couldn't have kept it simple and stick a slick inline 4 in there to easily turbo and change the spark plugs. I may need to ditch the FA20 motor in favor of something easier. An lsx swap doesn't sound too bad either. It's just that I'd rather butcher something like a used 240sx, older BMW, rx7, cheap rwd cars than doing something crazy like an lsx swap to my brand new FRS. It would be such a waste. |

The good news is that this swap is quite do-able and I predict worth the effort if done right. Two kits on the market to work with or copy. I would spend as much time going over their work as possible. Vorshlag in particular is overly generous in showing their designs. I have made a note of their very nice transmission mount design for my own project! Budget-wise, be aware that the average Miata swap runs 10-15k by the time it is done. I bet most did not expect that number when they started. The big chunks like engine and gearbox in car actually turn out to be the easier/cheaper parts of the project. Its the nuts and bolts and accessory bits that kill you. If I were coaching you, I would tell you to sit down and write a list of 100 things that you see will need doing on the project. Trust me, there are more like 500-1000, but the 100 will give you a broad picture of what you are getting into. OR, just just follow your heart, dive in and go for it. Good luck either way. Start posting the build thread or at least a link since this board is not yet swap friendly. It will come with time though!

My thoughts exactly... any old cheap rwd car, God bless. But OP's car only has like 900 miles on the clock? Lol. Should've just bought the cheapest used frs/brz you could find. I've seen one with front end damage listed for $9k. That would be a prime swap candidate.
Anyways, I wish you all the best of luck in your lsx swap.
