I actually admire the fact that Scion / Toyota USA could demand enough to leverage a one off color for a limited production car. Vinyl wrap and a professional paint job cant match oem paint jobs in terms of coverage, unless someone is stripping their car to do so.

1.0 is a definite plus for anyone who loves yellow cars.

I understand both sides of this thread. I am waiting for my RS 1.0 to come in. For the same money I could get a deal on a new FRS and have a small bankroll to start my mods. Very tempting!!! I chose instead to get the RS 1.0 and to keep it mostly stock (wheels, and light tweaks) in the hopes of better resale down the road or trade for the next gen. If I got a standard FRS and modded it it would kill the resale.

Look at the value of S2K CRs, low mileage stock ones bring all the money I've seen them between 35-45k. The RS 1.0 has basically the same changes that the CRs had. If they don't hold their value then I'll throw a turbo at it.

IMHO

While it's cool and all to get to have special editions...it would be nice to see Toyota/Subaru do some other things to the car. Perhaps getting rid of the torque dip or figuring out a way to shoehorn the new WRX motor. Stop giving the twins the Cayman treatment!

This is a really good point. 10 Series was $3k more than the base when brand new. After 2 years, according to KBB, 10 Series' value is $3650 more than the base. Maybe the same thing could happen to RS1.0. You might end up spending less money owning RS1.0 than the base.

I don't think the resale value of this RS 1.0 will be along the lines of the CR s2000. The CR had a bunch of cosmetic changes along with PERFORMANCE.

Main difference is that while both special editions look "cooler" the s2000 CR is a track oriented version that lost almost 100lbs. The rs 1.0 gained weight..

Goodies listed below

What a CR has that a regular s2000 does not.
--------------------
-Aero Package
-Upgraded tires
-Stiffer springs
-Stiffer shocks
-Thicker sway bars
-Brace added behind seats
-Quicker steering ratio
-Shorter shifting with different shift knob
-peak-power indicator
-Synthetic suede Interior w/ high grip carpeted seat inserts
-Carbon Fiber look radio cover and sliding center console cover
-A/C + stereo optional
-Sound deadening material removed
-Soft top Removed
-Hard top standard
-Different sounding exhaust
-Slightly re-tuned ECU (reported on this site, not by Honda)
-Spare tire replaced with inflation kit
-Different wheels
-Black lug nuts
-Clear side-markers

"Same changes" my ass lol

I don't understand why some people have a problem with body kits. I can understand if they are cheap unpainted / badly painted kits that don't even look correct on a car. The TRD kit on the RS1.0 is oem quality and designed specifically for the car and so what if the car didn't get any performance boost. Does anyone really think the mere weight of a few extra pieces of plastic is going to slow the car down? Why don't those people all strip their car's interior and rid the AC to save some weight if they are so performance sensitive?

I own a RS1.0 and have to say I am biased because I am in love with my car. Regardless there will always be haters so enjoy hating it while I enjoy driving it. Afterall there will only be 1500 lucky souls to own and drive one.

This car was created as a blue print for us enthusiasts to customize towards our own style so I don't think anyone that's looking to modify would waste their money on the Special Editions.

Debated about switching but decided to stay with my Monogram. Will definitely trade in when the next gen performance enhanced FRS is released. If not, the Toyota FT-1 will eventually be released to the public.

sticker on my 10 Series was $31.5k so the only thing I'm mad about is NOT getting the skirt kit and nice seats and all that for my money...

(disclaimer: I did NOT actually pay 31,5 for mine, I work at the dealer so got it for close to the price of a base FR-S)

I kinda get where the OP is coming from. All these "special editions" seem to be like 90% the same as the last. They throw some new color on it, the JDM interior and exterior pieces everybody wants, and a couple other bits and call it a day. I don't understand why they don't just sell the car from the get go with the JDM lights and have the auto climate control and push start as an option as well from the dealer. The color is a hit or miss I suppose.

If I'm going to spend a 6k premium over the base FRS, I'd like something more than just a bunch of TRD pieces and a few (what should be OEM) parts. I still don't understand why all of these special editions, including the blue series (some people call the sti) still uses stock brakes. As if it's too hard for them to just go into the parts bin and grab some sti calipers and stuff and bolt them on.

Either way, scion can throw these models out because people will buy it. They always do. People will sell their 2013 and 2014 FRS or monogram or 10 series just to have this one. It always happens.

What a CR has that a regular s2000 does not.
--------------------
-Aero Package, RS1 DITTO
-Upgraded tires, WEAR ITEM RELACED ANYWAY
-Stiffer springs, TRD SPRINGS WITH PROGRESSIVE REARS
-Stiffer shocks, TRD SPRINGS TUNED TO ORIGINAL SHOCKS
-Thicker sway bars, SEE SPRINGS, It's about the tuning of the chassis
-Brace added behind seats, RS1 IS A COUPE SO BRACE NOT AS CRITICAL, STIFFER
-Quicker steering ratio, MAY OR MAY NOT BE A PLUS DEPENDS ON THE CAR
-Shorter shifting with different shift knob, WE GOT THE KNOB AND A $150 OPTION TO SHORTEN SHIFTER
-peak-power indicator, REALLY...THIS IS FLUFF
-Synthetic suede Interior w/ high grip carpeted seat inserts, RS1 DITTO
-Carbon Fiber look radio cover and sliding center console cover, RS1 DITTO, FLUFF
-A/C + stereo optional, I LIVE IN MIAMI NEED A/C
-Sound deadening material removed, MINOR WEIGHT SAVINGS MORE ROAD NOISE
-Soft top Removed, RS1 COUPE
-Hard top standard, SEE ABOVE
-Different sounding exhaust, RS1 DITTO
-Slightly re-tuned ECU (reported on this site, not by Honda), NOT VERIFIED ON EITHER CAR
-Spare tire replaced with inflation kit, YOU REMOVE THE SPARE TO RACE ANYWAY
-Different wheels, RS1 SHOULD HAVE HAD OTHER WHEELS
-Black lug nuts, HARD TO GET EXCITED ANOUT THIS
-Clear side-markers, FLUFF

"Same changes" my ass lol .... So as I said " basically the same changes"
