Can you hear the boxer rumble with the stock cat back? Have an audio clip?

Quick question, what did you get the exhaust for on Black Friday last year? I've been in the market for one, but might just wait until Black Friday. Did you buy it online or at a shop? |

I picked up an OFH a few weeks ago. Before the header install, I just had a 3" Perrin resonated cat back. The exhaust itself sounded very mellow and I was very content. I installed the headers (ooopsies, didn't realize or just forgot they were catless) along with a catted Motiv front/over pipe. And yes, this sucker is very loud now.
Now...it doesn't sound like a tuba or anything ultra ricey. It sounds very aggressive and amplified. There's days where I love it and days where I drive it very gingerly to keep the notes to a minimum. I'm patiently waiting for my catted UEL to arrive. (and supercharging definitely didn't help either) |

I'm actually really surprised, I have the Tomei UEL and the Perrin CBE Reso. I know different header but i'm sure similar noise levels.
I literally have never had anyone say my car was too loud, my friends, in another car, were skeptical when I said was flooring it up a freeway on ramp. Skeptical that it was so quiet when giving it the beans. Yes its more prominent than just a CBE or just a header but really its not "those" honda bee hive tin can noise in anyway. EDIT: its probably a leak. Perrin's CBE is one of the quietest out there

Even with a catback and header it's really only noticeably rumbly in the lower rev range.

My recording would probably consist of throwing my phone in my back seat. I'm not sure if that would be super helpful. |

I'm thinking I will give it a little time and see what comes of it. I had originally created the thread after putting at most 25 miles on the exhaust. As the week has progressed it seems like it has less of a metallic sound, so maybe it just needs a little carbon build up.

Like others have said, give it a week or two, the inside of the pipes will coat over, and it will quiet down. If you use an aftermarket frontpipe it might not mate exactly right to the header so you will get a slight leak or some knocking on the suspension bits. I've had that going on for a couple weeks and I finally got fed up so I have an appointment with my local shop to pound out the front pipe so they play nice. This OFH/Perrin combo is going to be one of if not the quietest you can get though, so if that is loud for you I don't see many other options.
