Yeh I'm way early on this but seems Scion is consistent with mid to late May on the official release of the next model year. The specs on the '15 started their way out into the web about January if I remember and I will be buying between April and June of 2015 cash! So whenever someone hears something factual or extremely close to factual and realistic on the 2016 model to make it worth the wait that would be cool. But something like the 2015 updates i.e some retuned suspension part's, shark fin, dash plastics upgrade, etc. are not the changes I'm looking for. Noticeable body style and interior changes that look good is what I'm after. I don't need to race around everyday or drift, I want a fun everyday car to take to the track every once in a while. My first and subsequent cars were all RWD and F1 fan so it's kinda in my blood to own another RWD sports car. To each their own. Anywho when you see anything out there on the interweb about the 2016 changes post it here for my selfish needs :P Since I am paying cash I want to spend right the first time, I plan to have the car for a while. .

Don't count on anything major except perhaps a limited model from each of the brands.
Pretty sure Toyobaru will stay close to the original if they eventually do a mid-cycle rework. Think AP1 and AP2 S2000. Maybe they will tune out the bulk of the torque dip if they can maintain emissions. The OFT does it too, but not sure if/how emissions are affected.

The ONLY reliable source will be either from Toyota/Subaru themselves or a reputable major magazine/website that has the actual car in their hands. All other sources such as the forum rumor mongers, small sites looking for clicks, wanta be fiction writers, etc. should just be ignored. |

+1 on the limited edition model...they seem to have one every model year (2013 10 Series, 2014 - Monogram & 2015 Release Series 1.0)
However, the changes are unpredictable. The 1986 Supra received a Turbo model one year after, and the 1993 MR2 got new wheels and upgraded suspension 2 years after the 1991 model. I'm waiting for the 2016 FR-S news to come out too. It would be best to wait for the news around January like you said, or later for that matter. The nice thing is that if you can be patient, it works out because by the time you find the changes the 2016 are getting if they aren't anything impressive then you could get a deal on the 2015s as they are phasing out, possibly even get your hands on a sitting Release 1.0.

Good luck on getting a Release 1 just "sitting" as they are pretty much already all sold or spoken for. |

I'm expecting 2016 to be the first major update. I would not expect another limited edition with minor tweaks after all of those they've already put out.
Probably power and styling tweaks. How those will come, however, I have no idea..... |

Same thing goes for comparing 2014 and 2015. So I figure the biggest difference between buying a 2015 or 2016 would be about a year of waiting. |

Model 2016 will not have any serious changes. Subaru classifies the current 2015 BRZ model as spec C (production after July 2014):
![]() Subaru has usually 4 specs for all the cars (A, B, C, D) and then they create a new model. Also mid-cycle upgrades are always introduced with spec C. The same should hold for the other brands as Subaru is the manufacturer. Yes, changes on the spec C model were very limited even for Subaru (they usually do moderate upgrades). Only important change was the suspension, but we should have also a minor body style upgrade and also on the inside. This gives a mark that the relationship between Toyota and Subaru is not very good and that they are not investing a lot anymore. It also gives a blurred picture on the future of this car. Personally, I wouldn't wait. I already have the spec C model and it is a great car! It drives great and it is already a classic. You could wait only if you want a new "limited edition" model. I am sure there will be 1 or 2 more editions. Otherwise, go for the new model... if it'll exist! Last edited by nikitopo; 09-30-2014 at 07:35 AM. |

If they do refresh the my16 it will probably have little quirks similar to the my13. You should wait for the 2017 model.

The bad part is that you can wait for better right up to the point that they make them worse! When that happens you have to go back to the last "good year" and end up scrambling for what ever you can get or looking at a used car! |
