It's one object though. If it were like a porsche engine where each side had its own header that would be different.

The term header is for Honda owners, they have one head......not including the one behind the steering wheel.

Headers is for everything with more than one head.....even a Ferrari V-12 has a set of headers that are effectively a 12 into one system on certain race cars.

Its like calling an engine a F'n motor....................

It doesnt matter the number of exhaust ports. What matters is how many collectors there are that the piece of piping flows into. Since every single 4 banger ive seen collects from 4 exhaust ports into 1 collector down into a single exhaust pipe (no 4 banger can effectively move a sufficient amount of air like a V6 or anything larger can). Corvettes have two headers; i.e. one header on each side of the engine that collects into its own pipe coming out of the rear bumper with 2 full header back exhausts.

Even some V6 cars are like that where they have 1 header, some have 2. The V6 mustang has 1 header, im sure the GTR has 2. Ferrari has 2 inline 6 headers that collect into two seperate exhaust systems each.

Two parts where the exhaust ports connect. At no point do those headers connect into one. A pair of items, plural.

Same kind of deal here; but eventually those exhaust port pipes flow into one connected collector. A singular item.

.....just because we have 2 heads on our motor does not mean the tubes that direct the flow of exhaust gasses is plural. the tubes all converge into one collector and are considered 1 part as a whole. thus it is a "header" not 2 "headers" because it is not two separate parts.

Also I did just call it a motor because it is a motor. You can use the word "engine" and you would be understood and correct but "motor" is probably historically more correct than "engine". if you dont believe me here is a link to an artical from MIT http://engineering.mit.edu/ask/what%...tor-and-engine

Then how do you explain a pair of pants vs. a single pant?

"Pair of pants" goes back to the middle ages when one might wear a pair of individual cloth, leather, or fur leggings.over tights for riding. For convenience, leggings evolved into a joined pair, and ultimately today's different but related pants.

best written explanation i could find.

If that's the case, I am curious how effective a single underwear was.

Hate to interrupt that fascinating discussion, but back to the original post.
I would have sworn that I saw a list where some nice person had collected a list of all the known headers, but it must have been my imagination because I can't find it now.
Anybody know where it is or if it really exists?

Why? That gives them the option of being wrong.

I think I I remember that too, but it also might just be the exhaust thread...if you can't find it maybe you should make it
