I just went out to mess with it at lunch. Apparently despite having plenty of space, they is still the issue with the apk files. Once I deleted the downloaded apks I was able to install the other apps no problem. So there must be some bug because before I had 1.16gb free for the app storage. After deleting apks and then adding the new apps I now have 1.1gb free. Obviously there's plenty of space for apps, but somehow the apks are messing with the internal storage??
There's an app called "Cleaner" that, among other things, can automatically remove no-longer-needed APK and download.bin files to free up space. Saves some trouble from doing it by hand.

First, I like the Dashlinq. I think it could be better, and it frustrates me at times, but it's the best at doing what it does based on other similar units and tablet installs. I want to see Apple CarPlay in action, and that's really the only thing I'd consider getting rid of the Dashlinq for at this point. That said...

Removing that device from your car every time you want to update it is an extra task to add to your life. And I realize that many people prefer to organize their own music, but I personally would rather let iTunes handle that, because I like the way it does folder structures, and quite frankly, it's easier than doing it myself. It's not that taking that USB stick into your house, plugging it into your computer, and copying files over into whatever structure you want is hard. It's just something that seems unnecessary in a world where everything happens automatically. I don't really want to waste 10 minutes doing that. I plug my phone into my computer to charge, it automatically syncs my podcasts and playlists without me really thinking about it, and that's that - no time wasted. The downside to this is plugging in your phone every time you get into the car, as opposed to plugging/unplugging in that USB stick every time you update your music (and in my case, sitting in my garage waiting for podcasts to finish downloading before I leave).

Thanks but I don't think anyone was looking for sympathy. My comment was about convenience, not difficulty.

See plugging in your phone every time you get in the car is more of a hassle to me than updating my flash drive maybe once a month with a new album.

Exactly, it really depends on your use case. If you're updating your music that infrequently, obviously the Dashlinq is a good solution for you. If you listen to a podcast that comes out Sunday and another that comes out in Tuesday (like me), plus any music you may add...you can see where the hassle would arise.

Podcast I use pocketcast tethered to phone with 5 GB data. No issues there. Sometimes I'll download when parked at a Starbucks or something.
Honestly right now I'm not doing much of shit without root.

Exactly, there are plenty of ways to auto download podcasts with android without needing an iPod. DC2R did you try out the update I posted, still no luck rooting that one?

Added a section to the doc for bypassing the CarHome in the latest unrooted update. Not perfect, but better than nothing IMO. Tasker Required, though there might be some tasker alternatives that are free.

Hi! Does someone have problem with PowerAmp, when it shuts down when unit wakes up after sleep?
I run GPS app and PowerAmp and in settings I set power off timer on 2 hours.
So, when I briefly turn ACC off, then on, unit wake up fast and PowerAmp still works. When I turn ACC on a longer period of time, but not more then 2 hours, unit wakes up fast, but PowerAmp is no longer running. Then after starting PowerAmp forgets about last playing track.

Anybody had similar issues?

I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan on AT&T, so I can't tether without the risk of losing that plan. I do it rarely with an app that a developer snuck into the AppStore a few years ago (Handy Light), but I wouldn't want to do it as frequently as twice a week (or more). I'm sure AT&T would love to have a reason to yank that plan out of my hands.

This no root kind of sucks. I email will and commented on Facebook page regarding it. May just go back to older version if possible.

UPDATE:
Downloaded old files, removed carhome in prop file, replaced partition file, going downstairs to flash.
Afraid root is linked to MCU and this will do nothing.
