For me, it's convenience.

I have an ipod touch permanently mounted in the glovebox on both of my cars. When I park in my garage they automatically wifi sync to my home network. To get new music on them, I just add it to itunes and it pushes to the ipods and other devices I have. The music is now immediately available on all devices without having to manually put it on a USB drive.

As far as I know, there's no other way to do that.

Protpibe covered it a bit above. Honestly, it's a pain to get music on the CaFi. So much so that I haven't updated it in a couple months. I get in my car on Monday morning and I have to wait for it download podcasts before I leave the garage, as opposed to having everything automatically sync with my phone when I plug it into my computer (which I do every day, multiple times), and then just plug my phone into my head unit and go.

It's a trade off. If you don't want to fool with your phone, the Ca-Fi is for you. If you want to use your phone, it's really not.

I wish Google Play would automatically download music I upload to it. Every time I add new stuff, I have to go into the unit and pin those so they download.

Can the Ca-Fi be setup in such a way that it'll start playing music, stored on a USB pen drive always present, as soon as the system boots up & also loads Torque?

Yeah I tried everything I could find. Maybe rootable via ADB? I just know nothing about it. And with a custom recovery I an out of ideas.
Perhaps the answer is editing the update files much like we have to remove CarHome and edit partition sizes.

Just got my unit today and updated to the latest firmware. Is anyone else having issues adding google account? When I hit new or existing, they both just take me back to the main settings page.
Edit:
Doh, just figured it out. Didn't re-add my wifi . So far I'm really liking this unit (for the few hours I've had it!). It is unfortunate that root is not currently working with the latest. But still awesome, and this thread helped make it super easy to install!

I'm a bit hesitant to do the update now since I need root to allow Google Play to access pinned music on the SD card :|

Several of us have combined this HU with the OEM Audio Plus System 400+ or 400cf Reference System. It sounds amazing.

[EDIT]
On another note, can someone point me to the tweaked partition file? I've looked, and I can't find it. (It should probably be added to the general info google doc.)

(actually there's a lot of updated info that needs to go in that doc)

He may want to specialize in something else then. Taking the low level preamp signal and running it through aftermarket amps and speakers shouldn't pose him any issues unless the unit itself had some serious deficiencies such that even the stock speakers would sound like shit.

As it is, this unit sounds just as good as stock, if not marginally better.

My unit is showing 1Gb+ free for the apps, and a few Gbs for storage but when I try to install youtube (or any other app through the playstore) it tells me I have insufficient space.

Edit:
I just went out to mess with it at lunch. Apparently despite having plenty of space, they is still the issue with the apk files. Once I deleted the downloaded apks I was able to install the other apps no problem. So there must be some bug because before I had 1.16gb free for the app storage. After deleting apks and then adding the new apps I now have 1.1gb free. Obviously there's plenty of space for apps, but somehow the apks are messing with the internal storage??

If taking a flash drive out of your glovebox to put new music on it is too difficult then I have no sympathy for you. And if you want to have an iPod autosync with your itunes in your garage, you're going to have a shitty, antiquated player, that's your trade off.
