Porsche maintenance with the power of the twins no thanks. From what I have read it just a detuned base model used to get around taxes. I would love to have either one in s trim though.

Looks like it's got the same 2.7L base Cayman engine, but only making 211 hp. Unless this was really cheap (under $35k), I'd pass.

Keep in mind this is Europe where there is a huge premium on displacement and fuel economy.

I doubt you will ever find this car in the US.

It's just a detuned engine , you can easily get it back to its original horsepower and since it's 100% the same as the base car you will pay the same amount :p btw the car in this form with the manual is indeed slower than a twin :p (not a huge difference although)

The engine is detuned, and in cases like that where the engine output is purposely reduced, the hp and torque curves aren't conventional... which is the case whenever you see an engine where the curve is perfectly flat and the marketing material says X lb-ft from abcd rpm to wxyz rpm.


Back to the comparison... it'll probably be similarly quick as far as acceleration times go, but it'll feel faster in most situations since it has a lot more torque.

Porsche have speced 211ps/208bhp @ 7.4krpm & 214lbft @ 4.5k-6.5krpm, the problem with this is 214lbft @ 6.5krpm is 265bhp. No amount of detuning can get away the fact that the published specs simply don't make sense!

The Car in manual does certainly not feel faster than a twin they feel very similiar in both acceleration and handling and torque is 206lbft@ 4.5k-5.3k as far as i know.

The specs on the Porsche Belgium site says 290Nm (which is about 214lbft) at 4.5-6.5krpm

Yeah at first they even tried to say the 211hp version was not slower than the base spec one on that site :p (yeah right) however go check the Boxster 211 spec that says 280NM both engines are the same that site is really a mess sometimes they reduced the horsepower but forgot to change the torque...

You should get the porsche if there are extra cash. The base are very reliable and with the TPC package, it's fast. Maintenance is a breeze if you going to do it yourself. Get a durametric tool..
