I did. The form for that said I had to have a Texas driver's license to qualify.

Louisiana does not have a points system, though. I wanted it adjudicated a non-moving violation so that it wouldn't affect my insurance rate, but no-go.

Maybe they won't cross-report to LA? I know not ALL states are connected, so you may still be clear.

It's nice having an intl drivers license. =P

And furthermore, I always see this list of things you're supposed to do to try to fight a ticket. And yet when I was doing my research, I also came across plenty of stories where people did some or all of that and still ended up getting railroaded in court. I have my doubts whether any of that is anything other than wishful thinking.

That's hilarious. New Orleans has red light cameras at certain intersections, but they malfunction all the time and flash when there's nobody even at the intersection. Quite a few people have gotten tickets for turning right on red after a complete stop, which is perfectly legal here.
The Huffington Post wrote an article back in 2011 about the LA traffic cameras. Knowing what I said in my previous comment, reading the article is quite hilarious.

I read the title of this thread as "They see me mowing... my front lawn."

I did a burn out one night close to home aboy 11pm. Nice deserted road less than half a mile from home. I lit them up for no shit probably 90 secs, smoke rolling through the car like a Cheech and Chong movie. I get out of it and round the curve to turn on my street. Four cop cars sitting there pulling a checkpoint. They are all laughing as I pull up. Officer asks me " Did you really just stop in the road and do a burn out?" I think a second and asked did he see me do a burn out? Of course he refuses to answer, I was just around the curve enough they couldn't actually see me. He waves his hand at the smoke still pouring out of the car and rear tires and says "Really?". He gave me a ticket for obstructing a city street, got to go to court on it. Very interested to see what happens when I roll in in my wheelchair with one arm and leg being accused of doing a burnout, lol.

So here's my story. About 3 weeks after picking up my new BRZ at Heubergers in Colorado, I'm driving through Georgia to visit a friend. Suddenly I see the flashing blue lights of the Georgia State Patrol in my rear view mirror. I look down, see that I'm going 57 in a 55 zone, so I'm cool there. But I know that cops like to pick on BRZ owners, so I pull over expecting the worst.

The GSP dude waddles out of his car and strolls up to my window. "Your temporary plate is taped up to the inside back window. That's illegal in Georgia." Then he opens his ticket book and starts writing.

But I was ready for this. "You know, that plate is not from Georgia, it's from Colorado. And my dealer told me that since their temp plates are just paper, they won't last 5 minutes on the outside of the car." He stops, glares at me and shuts his ticket book while he brags, "Our temp plates are solid plastic here in Georgia." No comment from me.

Then he takes my license and goes back to his car. Once he's learned that I'm not on the FBI Most Wanted List, he waddles back and takes two full long walks around my car. Then he comes back to my window with his ticket book. "I notice you have tinted windows. Looks pretty dark," and opens his book again.

But I was ready for that too. "You know, I told the dealer to make sure the tint levels were legal in my state, and I have a signed work order to that effect at home."

He glares at me again, closes his book, then demands my title. Then the nitwit spends the next few minutes carefully checking out my VIN, before going back to his car with my title clutched in his hand. I'm guessing that Heubergers sounds like a communist conspiracy group to the GSP. Anyway, everything checked out, and he let me go, but not before demanding to know where I was headed. I resisted the urge to make a sarcastic reply and drove off.

So the fine citizens of Georgia can rest easy knowing that their crackerjack state patrol is protecting them from those evil BRZ owners.
