Well, you put it in the title and a lot of people posted feedback on it as a result; seems like it was important...

I've owned two 2006 Cayman S's and they are wonderful cars but I wouldn't say they are more fun than the FT86; which is quite a shock for me because I pretty much thought the Cayman S is the best sports car on the planet! Not so much any more; and my BRZ is NA!

If I were to add power to our cars, I'd go with Jackson Racing as it seems to be the most reliable, and for me, that makes it the best. For now, I'm having too much fun with stock power.

You may already own your dream car

Well...I guess you're right and it's important for me then, lol.

Nice! Glad to hear your experience on the Cayman and the BRZ.

Stock is never a bad thing, especially if it's still a really fun and great car while still being stock

I'm pretty sure there's a difference between a simple ride along (which they offered) ...vs. free track day registration entrance and free instructor sessions lol.

Crazy how the Z28 reportedly handles better and is much better balanced at the track than the Stingray though. I wonder if the upcoming Stingray Z06 will be below or better than the Camaro Z28 in terms of handling, or if it will have the same characteristics like the base models.

Chevy GM sure is progressing like never before ...leaving out of date Mustangs and super heavy Dodges in the dust.
not an issue with the LS3 in the Camaro, thanks to the bigger oil capacity of the Camaro

By the way, my friend who recently bought a Camaro 1LE sent me this article, it looks like with the same Pirelli Trofeo R tires Camaro 1LE stops and handles like a dream.. it can stop in 94ft from 60-0, this is a 3800+lbs car and cat do 1.05g on lateral g skidpad test..!!!and that with the bone stock car and 1LE suspension

The Z28 and its' great tires remind me of all the reviews, comparisons and videos of when the 86 came out, but in the opposite way.

The 86 was always compared to similarly priced and performance capable cars (mustang, many ff hatchbacks and so many other different cars) on the track, and almost always resulted in slower laptimes (but also with high praise for its' balance and handling of course). But these slower times in most cases were mainly due to its' stock prius tires (whereas the cars the 86 was being compared to, alway had much better decent tires), which all the hundreds of reviews never blamed those tires for the slower times for, lol.

It sounds like a lot of those impressive times are due to its' close-to-R-spec tires.
Have you seen the tires the GTR comes on? They were custom made for the GT-R and are probably nearly as sticky. You don't see guys settings lap records on Pirellis, so it isn't like they are some magic tire. The suspension and the entire package is what makes the Z28 what it is.

Exactly, since there is no solid "Treadwear ratings" standard and it's not regulated, each tire manufacturer can claim whatever they want..

I am pretty sure the Dunlop tires that come with the GTR cars are a bit different than the OEM tires and may contain some R compound, and we all know that Porsches have been using Trofeos for a long time or Porsche specific Michelin Cup tires.,
For some reason, many magazines bash GM when Z06 with Z07 package Corvette or the ZR1 come with Michelin Cup Tires..this is just unfair IMO since they mention that they use 100 TW tires whereas many other manufacturers pretend like they use standard High Performance summer tires ...

back in days GTR used R comps in their Nurburgring tests and when other manufacturers forced them to use the street tires that come with the car their lap times suffered almost 20 seconds after that..

On the rare occasion, we have offered free track day registration and instruction to clients as well.

True...I guess european and japanese car people are just jealous and trying to find excuses, because GM is honestly coming up and can hang or beat the best of the imports nowadays.

I like imports over domestics. Always have and always will. I like their styling, interiors and exteriors, their philosophies and aesthetics. But all these new corvettes, camaros and other domestics are honestly attractive to me too nowadays.

FYI, new GM cars (Camaro, Corvette, Cadillac ATS and CTS) including C6 Corvettes, are light years ahead of the competition when it comes to handling and brutal power if you factor the cost difference they become no brainer

No wonder why Ferrari bought the PTM and Magna Ride systems from GM

the only thing is they don't have a car in lightweight, 4 cylinder,roadster/coupe segment since they mainly focused on competing against the supercars and exotics, and heavy weight contenders (European cars) ..if they continued making Saturn Sky/ Pontiac Solstice and improved that platform I would definitely consider getting one

Camaro Z28 can outhandle an AWD GTR ($117k) and AWD 911 Turbo s ($200k) in a wet and cold track, and a Camaro 1LE's handling on par with the Z28 with the same tires and with the same suspension I would love to see the results and Camaro 1LE cost is cheaper than 911 Turbo engine ..

here is another article I've seen a while ago
