I think the light is VSC off light and they are in VSC Sport mode

The “VSC SPORT” indicator and Vehicle stability control (VSC) off indicator come on when in Vehi- cle stability control (VSC) SPORT mode.

In that case you too need to go back and reread the thread because that's not what I had mentioned to Bristecom; i.e. you responded "yes" to the wrong thing. When I said "we" I was referring to the dialog between myself and Bristecom.

Yeah, it's probably in 'sport' mode. With enough wide-angle distortion if could be the corner of 'vsc off' light, but the 'slip' indicator would not have been blinking if it was really off.

And since I got nothing to do - I measured acceleration from 0 to 99 from the second video. They way these guys launched (@3.5k-4k) it took'em about 6.5-6.6 seconds to hit the top of the second gear.

When I was watching the 1/4 mile race I realize the BRZ has a better looking front end than the FRS. I always thought it was the other way around.

Also in the 1/4 mile video the BRZ takes off at 2:21 and makes it to 96 km in 2:27 flat. That is 6 seconds flat.

I downloaded the video and counted the frames from a dead stop to the top of 2nd gear. According to reviews even that isn't giving you 60mph.

Now, that is the type of review I have been waiting to see. No BS drifting except when the GT86 driver started fooling around and almost let the BRZ get past while he was drifting the last few corners. The MX-5 hung tough despite being down on power and having a floaty suspension at the limit but the FT86 twins are clearly the superior track cars in stock form.

Good stuff!!!!

also a 1/4 mile test

the BRZ driver sucked or it was fixed. when they both passed the MX5 the BRZ braked way to soon going into corner entry and gave up the lead to the GT who was in the wrong racing line. if i was him and if it truly was a lapse in judgment i would've tucked back in at mid turn and floored it since the GT was still trying to control understeer at corner exit.

what's surprising is the fastest lap times between the two. the GT with its slightly looser set up seems to be the faster car around the track and this is the 2nd video proving this but then again it could be toyota biased.

Tsuchiya in the 86 braked late and spoiled the BRZ driver's line, causing him to give up the lead. It's a simple maneuver in racing. The BRZ driver didn't suck; he chose to pass the Miata on the outside and Tsuchiya came in on the inside. Nice moves by Dori Dori!

lol... watch the video again. 3:26, and based on where he was on the track there was no need to brake as soon as he did. these are not F1 cars at suzuka, he wasn't even anywhere close to corner entry, the GT had the correct braking point even with the wrong racing line. the GT took it because the BRZ gave it. if the BRZ braked at the true braking point of the car the GT wouldn't have taken the opening.

hey, it could be he misjudged the speed (113mph). even if he was new to the track which i doubt he would've known the max entry speed and braking points of every section of the track within a 1/2 dozen laps with the car.

The rev indicator is programmable within 100 RPM increments.
