You will make a little more power on ethanol free gas and a little better gas mileage.

Unless you've done something magical to your engine or you're just not pushing it very hard, I can't imagine running 8 20's and making it 30 miles back to Biggs Junction on a tank. I've had my car at ORP 4 times never run more than 6 sessions and haven't been able to do that.

Just a caution, the State Police patrol Hwy 97 pretty heavily. When you get to Grass Valley you'll take a left off the hwy and go by a school. Obey the school speed limit, they are sticky about it.

Memorable time on a wickedly complex circuit. Big thanks to John for teaching me the proper line, brake points and gears by letting me shadow him for a few stints. Otherwise, it would've been difficult getting up to speed since about half of the corners are blind and I had no idea what to expect on some hillcrests despite watching several videos over the weekend and studying the track map.

I didn't run the last (6th) stint. I'd been up since 2:30 that morning caring for a sick dog before having a friend come over to sit with him and leaving for the track. I made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes (compared to the other mistakes), slipping my foot off the brake pedal while heel-toeing into T3 and the banked bowls area. I took that as a sign of fatigue and packed up for the scenic drive home.

Great day with the fine crew of fast pilots here. ORP is definitely at the top of my list now, well worth driving to the remote location.

Hey Robert, it was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed being chased by you. You kept me on my toes for sure. I look forward to our next meeting...maybe the Alfa Club track day on Oct 5?

I've retired for the season. Need to pay off my new golf clubs and motorcycle gear I bought.

John, if my dashcam hadn't died Sunday, I'd have some exciting video for you. It was so interesting watching your line and car on tip-toes through the turns. Very impressive to see our nearly stock cars so competitive with other vaunted marques like Porsche.

Josh and Doug, thanks for the pics. Josh, your car looked and sounded well sorted as you passed me uphill. Spectators liked it too, several stopping to take pics and commenting on the sanitary s/c installation while you were away at lunch.

Still undecided about the Alfa Club day. I usually put the FR-S into storage between Oct. 1 and Apr. 1 but might reconsider depending on weather.

I like to think it was our superior driving talent, but you're right it probably was the cars.

Would love to see all of you guys in Oct, but that one is weather dependent for me too.

In my post after "stock cars" add "in the right hands".

No doubt you were getting the most out of your car and tires and smoothly, too!

I wouldn't mind light showers at AROO day but if it's a deluge the track tends to form huge puddles and wouldn't be much fun.

Phenomenal video that clearly shows the elevation changes. Loved every second, rain and shine, CW and CCW! Thanks for posting.
