Tell that to the guys who bought a base model without a wing. And good luck with Greg on that one... He's a nice guy, but a no nonsense kind of nice guy.

Haaa.

I know Greg. I'm actually a NASA Official myself. It took me a week of going through videos 2 years ago to make a call on a pass under yellow in STR2 to render a decision based on splitting hairs at Mid-Ohio. I'm a stickler for the rules.

Doesn't mean the rules shouldn't or can't be changed. And of course being from NJ, well, you know Ben Franklin didn't have a spoiler on his kite

I've got guys in my T&S who haven't opened the CCR before so disregard my need to be verbose with the rules even though you and I have talked multiple times. And yes, I'm fully aware you're an official. Joe Casella and I talked about how you guys tore up Thompson. I DQ and kick out racers and Series Directors who are my friends and have been doing this longer than I've been alive and should know the rules all the time.
Speaking on this subject of taking things off the car from the factory, we've actually taken away all of a guy's TT records and banned him from TT for 2 years because he failed to take points on more than 1 occasion for a non-btm front splitter, making a similar argument.

And I'm always smiling when I make these posts since its just information sharing. Good luck with the wing thing. Too bad there's nobody in PT in NE, just AI, HC, and GTS, ST/SU else I'd come really consider coming up on the 26th.

I know it won't change anything but i like to complain.

I'm working on getting the boys from EFI and a bunch of ex-GTS turned spec miata guys to do the PTD/TTD thing next year....

Any of you guys going to be at VIR on October 3-5? It would be interesting to compete against some other FR-S's for a change and compare set ups.

As for jumping into PT, I'm still debating it. I probably wouldn't make the jump to w2w racing next year, but I'm still considering it for 2016. Just need to figure out the costs for all the safety equipment and would have to look for a tow car and trailer.

Will be working on the PT classing for all the other "spec series" so we can increase the crossover count for super sizing to PT. Find the thread on the forums and stay updated this off season.

If your silly Mid-Atlantic TT director hadn't scheduled the Florida weekend for the same weekend, I absolutely would. Felton needs me at Sebring, so I'll be down there instead. I'll come up a few times next year though to hang with JJ, so you can count on some FR-S fun.
Let me know if I can help with figuring out some of those things.

Seriously? I gotta take 4 points to run the OE spoiler? Man guess I need to add a new trunk to my shopping list....

I will not be at VIR this year. But its on the list for next year hopefully, even if I only come to hang out.

I've got a passing interest in trying out NASA timetrials, so lets make sure I've got my points right.

Car/current mods:
'13 BRZ Limited

17x8 wheels with 245/40-17 Dunlop Star Specs
Open Flash ECU
Openflash header
FRS rear springs
Stranoparts front bar
Camber bolts
Hawk DTC-60 pads (stock rotors)

Planned mods:
Better shocks and springs (TBD)

My point count:
+2 : Tires
+2 : Header
+1 : Cat delete
+2 : Springs
+2 : swaybar
+4 : OEM "Wing"
------
13 points

TBD:
Aftermarket shocks
+3 : Koni (or non-inverted non-remote reservoir single/double adjustable shocks)
or
+5 : Bilstein (inverted? shaft greater than 40mm?)

Total:
16/18 pts

I can buy back 4 points with a different trunk (can I just remove the wing, or are the holes illegal?)

I can massage the points with different tires (stickier but skinnier, skinnier, etc).

Did I miss anything?

Oh man... where were you at the beginning of the year. I just moved from Brier Creek.

The Bilsteins are Inverted and roughly 46mm so +6 there.
You can cover up the holes with vinyl as long as like it looks exactly like the BTM trunk. By removing my antenna, my roof had a 1x.5" hole that needed to be covered up. A vinyl decal sufficed.
You'll definitely want faster tires. 225 maxxis rc-1(if you can find them) will be a +3 pt tire and easily over 1 second faster than +2 tire. Once you lose the wing, you'll have +6 for tires... endless options there (225 v710, 225 z214, 235 R888, 235 NTO1, 235 RC-1). The v710/z214 are probably the fastest tires in that range, but no contingency

Also, your header costs 5 points due to the way that they define a header:
Quote:
23) Aftermarket or modified header +2 (note in almost all cases will require C.24) points also)
24) Non-BTM or modified exhaust piping, resonators, or mufflers downstream from the header primary, exhaust manifold, or turbo. (does not include catalytic converter — see C.25) +2
25) Removal, upgrade, or modification of catalytic converter(s). +1 (note -- in most cases will require C.24) points also if removed)
Since all the aftermarket headers for our cars replace more than just the primaries, we need to take +5.

Thanks for pointing that out. I sometimes forget that not everyone was involved in that clarification.
Any bolt on aftermarket headers on this car will be assessed a +5 pt because of the primary cat "blob" and piping aft of the header primaries, as well as the removal/non-btm cat inside that blob.
