Hi all, newest update: Man it was a busy weekend for 86 pre-orders again! We are now taking pre-orders for September 2012 delivery though we do still have 1 standard version available for June/July expected delivery (Can't remember the colour offhand sorry to the previous poster who asked). A few more weeks of this and we'll be into January 2013 and onwards. We expect Toyota Australia will launch the vehicle on the 8th of June but we most likely won't be seeing any cars until the 20th (first batch of 4).

Like all of us we in dealerland are eagerly awaiting the pricing and launch confirmation. Also in answer to another previous poster i do include escape clauses for all 86 pre-orders in the form of a written contract of sale (copy supplied to purchaser along with receipt for any monies paid) with special conditions similar to the following:

"The client has the right to cancel the contract if either he/she is not happy with the pricing or the actual vehicle and in the event they cancel will receive their deposit in full."

I'm writing these pre-order contracts with all pricing being approximate. I am also including an estimated delivery date on each contract and explaining to all clients that it is still all speculation - BEFORE they give us their deposit.

I've noticed in a few other threads alot of people speculating that the dealers who have taken pre-orders will do the wrong thing by their customers - when it comes to our dealership i can tell you from personal experience that we are an ethical and honest, family owned Australian company and have been in business since 1958. If in doubt, come and see for yourself.

On the other hand prices have been released in USA, Canada, UK, Europe, etc. Is this some kind of marketing strategy for Toyota Australia? I mean: holding on prices and going for the pre-orders in the meantime.

They have known for a while what the estimate will be but with so many variables and Subaru having a model as well makes the final figure alittle harder to commit too.

Is a marketing strategy? mostly i think so but with 3/4 of there target market maybe not knowing anything about the car yet (other then us enthusiasts) it seems unlikely to be deliberate.

Toy Aus are waiting for something and id dare say it could be along the lines of a "series of events at launch" like what Scion did but for our first 150 orders/cars that make it here, maybe the launch sequence isn't finalized yet.

Is there any major events/motorshow's around end of May?
