FRS not responding to throttle at all

So, last weekend I was driving and noticed a sudden jerking feeling. Then all the sudden the check engine and traction lights came on. Immediately after that, the car wouldn't respond to the throttle anymore. I was pushing down on the gas, but the tachometer wouldn't budge. I pulled off to the side of the road and turned the car off for a few minutes. After waiting and starting back up, everything went back to normal. I took it into my local Toyota dealership yesterday and they couldn't find anything wrong. I've got no idea what's going on with it. Have any of you guys experienced something like this?

I supposed it's possible, but it doesn't seem likely. Isn't bad gas a pretty rare thing these days? Last time I filled up with Shell 93.

sounds like limp mode which means the ECU detected something significant. Didn't the dealer scan the code??

Do you have a unichip installed on your car? If so, this sounds like something very similar to what I am working through. Jack from Unichip is helping me out to troubleshoot whats going on.

*Just to give background not trying to thread jack*
My problem is once I pick a unichip map it runs fine for like 3 days or so, then it does what you describe and I have those same lights come on.

I have those lights on now and I am going to go to Napa auto parts after work today to get those codes read. I can post what I find out if you like.

If you don't have a Unichip, then sorry for the long read I probably won't be of much help.

They said they found a code related to the fuel system, but couldn't find a problem. It was kind of confusing because I thought the codes are supposed to tell you what the problem is. Then they said if it happens again, just bring it back in. I asked them to flash the ECU just to be safe, but they wouldn't even do that. Needless to say, I'm not too happy with their service. It's really going to suck if this happens again during rush hour traffic and there's no shoulder to pull off on.

yeahi bought it off of someone for a good price but i'm losing quite a bit of faith in the thing right now. I will probably go and switch it for an OFT or something soon.

I wasn't trying to bash you too much, that junk has been around since i was a kid in the early 80's and it was nothing but trouble back then.

Toyota finally found out what the problem was. Turns out to be a bad fuel pressure sensor. Is that a known issue or did I just get unlucky?

Didn't find much about that on here so likely just a "shit happens" event.
