Had 7500 miles on mine when I had complete failure..later diagnosed engine failure due to rod bearings, reason from over revving is what the dealer said. Warranty is being denied..

Only mod is catback and intake .

Very extreme situation I am in... looking for any help from anyone that had similar issue with bearing failure.

Any help.much appreciated message me on here or email

Thank you

Update:

Had scheduled appointment today for the computer replacement. Dropped off the FR-S this morning and just picked it up after work.

Invoice shows SU003-04568 EGI Control Unit.

Car runs much better, ran her hard to get the temps up (230+) and okay for now. No idle hunting like before and response feels smoother than ever. Just brushed the rev limited to see how it is and it's much better than before... doesn't shut everything down and drop revs like a rock (which the original computer did.) Will be stressing her out over the next few days to get a "warm fuzzy" that everything is as it should be...

whew! i had similar symptoms to quite a few in this thread. car hunting RPMs, stalling out with skid lights and CEL coming up for a few days. Torque showed P0102 Turned out it was a loose bolt near the crank sensor. FYI though I have a Unichip. When I opened up the hood and prepared to remove the Unichip to rule that out, I found the bolt hanging on its own! Screwed it back and and now all is good.

this is the bolt here: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7dd-hjbNMQ#t=122"]Scion FR-S Unichip Installation - YouTube[/ame]

Just got my car back from the dealer after repairs for the rough idling/stalling. The dealer replaced the ECM, OSV, and A/F sensor. This was my second repair, the first time I had the same rough idling/stalling issue they replaced my shortblock.

I was experiencing idle blips after I got my car back. It's only been two days since I got it back and it's rough idling again. I parked it in my garage and popped the hood and it smelled pretty bad. The CEL started flashing and I pulled the codes P0300, P0017, P000B.

I'm at 138xx miles on a 2013 BRZ. I'm gonna have to call the dealer again to see what they can do as this will be the third time bringing it back for the same issue.

add me to the list..... 2014 BRZ, 2800 miles, and bought new 4 months ago. CEL code P0171(too lean on bank 1) CEL and SC light came on at the same time exteamly rough idle/sluggish(been rough idle and slugish for about a month now) and when i pulled forward car felt like i had a flat tire... the drive feel went away when the SC light went out figure its something with the LSD check engin light is still on and have been trying not to drive it since the code came up but i just dropped the car off at the dealer today and they havent seen it before but from what ive been reading i dont see how there are obvisiouly so many more people experiencing the same type of problem. they said they are keeping it for a few days to see if they can clear the code and if it pops up again just hope that they can fix it before it becomes a bigger problem.

Update #2, so the cell came back on for a P000B code (after putting rougly 2k on the new cam gears). I'm not sure what to do? My car is out of lemon law, mileage too high. I'm calling corporate in the morning. I took the car back to Subaru Puyallup today and they said it was a "not tightened gas cap." They code came back on about and hour after leaving the dealership. When i got home i ran the obd2 reader on it and pulled that code. Def not a gas cap.

I feel your pain, my dealer doesn't seem to care or play it off like i'm an annoying customer. Honestly i'm very close to getting rid of the car altogether. I have 41k on mine and am questioning if it's worth keeping the car past the powertrain warranty.

2014 BRZ Manual. My VIN is in the range of vehicles that were released with the updated programming. Last of VIN is 604483. My car does the exact same thing that everyone is making videos of. I have just under 2000 miles on the car. The dealer was not able to duplicate at this time but so far it is sounding like they are going to try to pass it off as normal.

they will i just got mine back and it runs worse than before and now my traction control wont even kick in. my vin is in the range of 602086. i have 2800 on mine. im taking it to a tuner shop in town tomorrow that has a subaru guy. the dealer tried to say that it was my cold air intake that was making it that way and the code was for running lean on the 1st cylinder and my ECU was trying to compensate for it.... if it was my intake wouldnt it be running lean on all 4? they cleared the code but with the way it runs/drives i will pop up on my engine will go.... hopefully its the engine and then they can give me a whole new car.... im starting to have some regrets.

It's not the engine P0171 is system is too lean bank 1, not just cylinder 1. Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1-4. On 4 cyl we only have bank 1. V6/V8 have bank1 bank2. This means the O2 sensor in your exhaust is detecting a lean A/F mixture that your ECU can't compensate for.

Common causes include:
- Intake or vacuum leaks
- Clogged or faulty Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF)
- Faulty PCV valve
- Exhaust leaks
- Faulty oxygen sensor
- Improperly installed aftermarket cold intake

It is possible for the intake to be causing it. I would put the stock intake back on just to eliminate one possible cause. If it continues then at least you can get it fixed under warranty. They typically won't give a proper diagnostic if you have aftermarket parts that may be causing it.

i noticed that while it was at the dealer... they didn't even drive the car it had the same millage on it as when i drop it off then tried to blame it on the cold air intake... would this cause significant problems in the future for the car if not repaired soon?

They don't need to drive it if they see data streams showing fuel trims way off and AFR above 14.7. It shouldn't cause any long term problems but I would take easy until you have it resolved.
