But to be fair, I've never seen one in person sooo maybe it has some ugly dimensions I don't know about.
It's my opinion. I have seen few Mark X in Japan and idk, just doesn't feel mean looking as other Mark series... idk maybe I haven't seen nice Mark X yet.

They had the similar powerplants but their bodylines were completely different.

With that being said, if they used the FT-86/FR-S engine n chasis and developed a completely different sedan, that would be dope!
That was kind of my point.

I would welcome it, actually. (If I could've found a 1JZGTE Chaser for the price of my Legacy, I would've bought it for my daily as a nice match for the Supra.)

As for someone saying Toyota owns most of Subaru I think it's actually less than 20%.
Don't forget the 1JZ twin turbo Mark IIs.

Yup. I think this is about making a sedan on the same platform, NOT turning the 86 into a sedan. I swear, do they still teach RC & Logic in schools today?

anyway, I wouldn't object if the sedan looked completely different. I just find it hard to believe that it'd actually happen.

Ugh... I always get the Chaser and MkII mixed up (Both being same chassis). I was actually looking at an X90 MkII Tourer V (1JZGTE/R154), but they are still very rare in Canada (dealers are more interested in bringing over sports cars and diesel microvans). I'm sure they're only about $1500 or less to buy used in Japan plus whatever shipping etc... but the one I saw was asking about 3 times what I paid for my non-import Legacy (R32 Skyline GT-R money).

Edit: Next year the X100 chassis are available for import in Canada... VVT-i 1JZGTE...

IDK, just current Mark series (example: Mark X Zio) isn't that great looking to me. Actually, current Toyota sedan line up isn't great to me (excluding Lexus).

I agree with that. The Zio isn't what I would call "pretty". BUT the Mark X Vertiga... I'd LOVE to get one of those.

I wonder what kind of manual tranny I could swap into that thing.

Hm... I gotta admit, front is somewhat cool looking... but still, as whole car, I'm not feeling it.

I hope it stays a 4 seater for insurance purposes. Even if they are useless. They can always be removed for those who don't want them.

My exact thoughts. I always get roped into driving more than one other person around so this will eliminate that problem.

From wheels magazine in Australia on page 24

Quotes from the article

"Toyota's market research suggests buyers would prefer a more 'upmarket' and 'comfortable' car, with all the bells and whistles. Translation. Slower, heavier, less focused. Groan.
So design and spec are shifting accordingly; the design in particular is becoming 'more emotional', with sharper body creases and a more aggressive frontal treatment."

"With the shift in priorities comes an inevitable increase in size- length has reportedly grown to 4250mm- and weight. the origional target of 1100kg is now closer to 1300kg. the re-think also means a deleyed launch. the rear-drive coupe was due in 2011 but has now been pushed back by at least a year, with a mid-2012 the latest rumor."

"Toyota's origional target price of 2 milloin Yen (call it A$25,000) has also hit the skids. expect a heftier price tag as the car shifts upmarket."

Subaru is still on track to build the cars (one for toyota one for itself) off a new dedicated platform, but only Subaru insiders know whether the rumors of a unique all-paw turbo version fo Subie are credible"

what do you guys think?
