New 2015 Aozora, Going to need Winter Tires soon.
I might be in luck that my father has a pair of barely used ZR's I can throw on my car for summers for now that should fit my 17" stock (the black STI rims) Now I was thinking should beable to trade in the michelin tires as brand new, get some decent credit for them and get a pair of 215/45R17 Winters for the car, I mean obviously question would be which one, and if I should stud them too
(don't know if I'm living in Alberta or in Vancouver yet). But my real question is should I throw the winters on my STI rims, and just use those for now and continue using them after I get new rims down the road for my summers (probably going to get 18"8.5&9.5's) ~ Is there a corrosion warranty against wear against the rims ~ Would it be worth it to have a nice pair of rims for the winter? Or would I be better off keeping those rims mint, and selling them when I'm ready to get my summer rims? I imagine they'd sell easily since their fair bit nicer then OEM |

They're stock rims, not going to sell for much. I say use em for winter if you're planning to get new ones for summers.

Its not like their OEM rims though, decent black spoked with STI logo so figured someone with a subbie would love em for older wrx or something.
But ya seems like the better option then facing having to use steels for winters, and just run those rims into the ground in style. Though I imagine they'll hold up well enough. Any one have any idea about rim corrosion protection in warranty i.e if they start to corrode is it covered? |

Sell the STi wheels and pick up a cheap set of OEM rims for your winter wheels. There's enough people that will pay a good amount for the limited edition rims.

FYI, my experience with shopping for tires was that the difference in price between 16s and 17s was enough to completely pay for 16inch steelies.
Not sure if that is up your alley or not. My recommendation would be to look at studless tires. Dont get a studdable tire without studs. |

I've done studs before and never bothered me, living in Alberta if I head that way gets pretty darn icy so thats why I'm leaning more towards the studs, every bit of traction I can get xD since the car isn't exactly good in snow as we all know. I don't doubt the controllability, just fact I'll be sliding half the corners to begin with... in control but never the less.
I wouldn't sell STI wheels yet since I'll need em for next season, going to be a bit till I get a new set of summer rims, pricy pricy, and this broke all my piggy banks to begin with. |
