Scion was there, along with a group of about 50 people for a regular car "hangout", most of whom checked out the red MT FR-S. An engineer and a marketing guy were there, stayed about 90 minutes.
Engineer told me if you put on snows without TPMS in them the tire pressure light stays on but you can still turn the TC/VSC fully off. Even if you put sensors in your snows you have to get the dealer to reset the ECU after installing them or you will have the light. Or buy an OBD II reader that can reset the ECU for you. Except for the colour, the car looked terrific, perfect proportions and size. Great forward and side visibility, but a HUGE blind spot, although the mirrors are big and convex to take care of that. It also sounded a lot better both inside and out when revved than you can pick up from the videos (although it was sometimes hard to tell when the Scion CUVs parked nearby were blasting their ghetto music at 150 decibels from their 1000 watt custom systems). Shifter seemed overly notchy, but that was my only complaint. With the upgraded audio head the interior looked generally great (except for the HVAC knobs). IP way better than in photos, clear white lettering at night. IMO the fake carbon fibre looked great, and the seat fabric, while downscale, looks a lot better IRL than in photos. Yes I was in the driver's seat for about 10 minutes total, did everything but steal the shift knob ...
A surprising number there did not seem interested in sitting in it. I don't think the car is "ghetto" enough to strongly appeal to the crowd there for the most part, they were nearly all college-age or younger and drove cars that were riced-out to various levels. Or maybe some just can't afford it!Yeah they finally got the party bois to turn down the racket. Sounded GREAT. I tried to get a bit of a ride when he left but he had a partner with him so no go .

Thanks for the update, was planning to go, but got busy. Wish I was there though.

The tire warning light on the FR-S is located on the speedo near the zero kph mark, I doubt it will be much of an issue. A small piece of black electrical tape may serves as a quick remedy if it becomes bothersome (continuous blinking). Quote:

As to visibility, I drive a coupe too, a little bigger than an FR-S though, and the rear quarter windows in it are actually useful. I was a bit shocked at how much less I saw out of the rear of the FR-S. Good thing the rear deck is so short! |

Pics and video from the Kennedy Commons FR-S visit are now up on the web (direct link not allowed). You can find a link on scion.ca's FB page.
