Best $3k coilovers? Sachs, Moton, MCS, AST, JRZ.

If your budget was $3k, which coilover model and brand would you go with out of these 5? Sachs, Moton, MCS, AST, JRZ?

Purpose - monthly track trips, DD and occasional autox. DD doesn't need to be plush nor comfortable at all. I don't mind a not perfectly comfortable "because racecar" too stiff DD ride one bit..and would rather have that than a luxurious wussy ride on a dd.

I know there is also KW, RCE, Bilstein, Ohlins and Penske (no way I can afford penskes anyways lol), which are all awesome.... but have narrowed it down to the first 5 brands I've mentioned.

Just wanting something a bit more serious than popular "tuner" coilovers (ie: jdm brands, kw, bilstein, entry ohlins rt, etc) but cheaper than Penskes or the flagship models of the 5 brands I've mentioned.

I think Moton and Sachs are the 2 top picks for me so far. Maybe AST. Idk yet.

*note: this poll intentionally doesn't have an "other" option, because "tuner" coilovers are cheaper, and race model Ohlins/Penskes are much more expensive. I want to make the choice between these since these coilovers are similar in quality, design, technology, pricing and targeted markets.

I'm not sure if you're serious, but none of those are at the $3k price point, especially if you decide to add up everything you need to package it altogether. If you're talking about low $3k for high end brands, it's probably their low-end offering with very little R&D involved with their development. Even Ohlins R&T starts at the higher end of $3k, hence, something to think about when you're developing your setup.

Yeah you won't get those with springs for $3k. I wish you could. Dampers only maybe.

You might be able to find some these for 3K used. Someone was selling their MCS one ways setup for little over 3K with springs and tops not too long ago on these forums IIRC. Probably sold by now.

I have no idea what you mean by "tuner coilovers" but even Tein SRCs are closer to $4k and would probably be the least expensive "serious" damper.
Yeah, I know jdm parts weren't on your shopping list but I'm suggesting SRCs are the pick at close-ish to your budget.

None of those are available for 3k... at least not new, even in damper-only form...

I also choose "Other"!

Ohlins makes an excellent product and the price is right. You get a DFV damper, top plates, and all of the swaggin' rights that come with the brand name.

We use them alot for off-road applications, and the build quality is always solid. From all of the reviews, it seems like they did a good job of tuning this application.

If I have to pick from the list, AST. Preferrably the Mann Engineering units with Swift springs (they normally come with Hyperco, which is perfectly fine) and CasCam plates.

SACHS coilovers come in around $2.2k. With everything you'd need to get them on there, you could definitely keep it under $3k. I voted for SACHS, especially because I will likely be getting a set in the next year or so.

I vote for AST 4150's. Those wth some swift springs should set you right. That's going to be pushing 3k though and you'll need camber plates and LCA's for alignment purposes.
