I agree about the East course, looks like a few slow areas with long straights after. I thought that was pretty typical with Nationals though, one course favors momentum (west) and the other favors power (east).

sounds like you friend has a kart. it would not be the end of the world if they
all blew up.

Vivek promises the East course is not as fast as people think. we will find out
in 7 days.

It may not be as fast as we think, usually his courses have some features that are tighter than they look on paper, but I would be shocked if it doesn't require third gear for us.

Open courses require more room for errors in line and corner setup. It can be challenging to remember tight and smooth when you have lots of room to play with.

Rain tires will be here tomorrow. I needed new street tires.... yeah.. that's what I will keep telling myself.

Car going on alignment rack tomorrow to double check after 2,000 miles of driving, an auto-x, and test weekend as well as make some changes due to things found in testing. Fresh fluids going in as well. Seats are mounted, almost 40 lbs. out of the car! See you guys in the paddock.

(SCCA sticker not offset its just the pic.)

Right? He can just stay in second and we can beat him.

I'm not going as much as I'd like to.

My 2c on the courses, which is silly since these are just maps. You can't even really figure out how courses drive sometimes even by walking them.

The West looks like kind of a nightmare for workers, but really looks like a good course for the 86 with both fast and slow sections. If that first wallom section is open enough that whole section looks like a lot of fun.

The East, drag strip. Like I said it's hard to tell from the map but I could see shifting three times on that course. That doesn't mean it's not technical, there are plenty of places where if you aren't in the right spot you aren't going to be able to take advantage of the straight sections.

All in all though seems like a good balance, but I wouldn't take the 86 over the 370Z on that East course. I still think Fenter is going to win especially with that West course.

I have my thoughts on the courses, but for me now is the time to shut up and drive. I'm not even looking at those maps again until I'm on site walking them.

The finish on the west course looks like it might make for a fairly high number of re-runs granted for cars tearing up the finish, and/or workers running through the lights. Hopefully it doesn't play out that way.

If you guys are so concerned, I'm sure you could talk your way into a 370 for the event. There are several there as single drivers. I tried both and stuck with what I've got. I may be disappointed, but I'll stand by my decision. I think we will do better than we expect, and I think there will be way more of us next year if one of us wins! See ya at the Biergarten near the practice course!

I posted them on the wall of my cube to obsess over for the next week in hopes that it will somehow help me remember them. I am tempted to sit on them and get something through osmosis.

I don't think concerned is the appropriate description, more of a observation about gearing on the course. We aren't the ones that almost jumped ship to the Z months ago! I'm just looking forward to getting out there, hurry up weekend!

If I'm putting money on the "Kenny Cone" for the weekend, it's going to be West Course #244.

True, I almost worked out the nats codrive in the 370 back in June. I'm glad I stuck with the BRZ, though. If gearing is your concern, the 370's will have it worse. Gearing is nearly identical, but 370 gets there slightly quicker.
