I'm not saying I'm an expert on the matter but I'm not ready to just start ignoring it as normal sound without a bit more evidence. I drive 'around' it so that it doesn't happen in case it is pinging.

Edit: For the record, this only started happening a few months ago. From when I completed the break-in (mid January) up until ~May, it did not make this noise at all.

I know there were some ECU updates surrounding some of this, so I'm going to have the dealer take a look at my version (Its a 2014, but I bought it on December 31st, 2013).

I would like to get to the bottom of it since it keeps me from having as much fun in the car.
That era car your probably on A01 series ROM since then there has been B00 B01 and now the latest D00 full calid is ZA1JD00C man or ZA1JD00D auto.

If you have access to tune tables you can make the Intake temp versus Ignition retard tables a bit more aggressive.

have a read here

That definitely sounds like plenty of updates worth grabbing. Sorry for the noob question, but is there a way of seeing the main differences that each ROM introduced?

Will a dealer just upgrade it if you ask, or do they have to do other diagnostics first?

Thanks again!

Their is little differencecs in the tune tables, but what we don't know is the program or logic changes .
A01 was for transient ignition retard (DI Seal failure fix)
The B00 & B01 ROM were to address idle stability issues with air conditioner switching

D00 series I dont know those ROM just came out with 2015 series cars.

Dealer won't update unless their is a TSB, believe their is one for B01 series.

Try whingeing and bleating about idle dips/stability with air conditioner switching in/out. they might do it. Search this forum for TSB on idle stability take it with you if you find it.

If that all fails you can flash it yourself see Tactrix thread below or buy an OFT and get a tune as well tunes based on latest D00 series ROM's
