The biggest "clutch killer" is not available torque, but slipping the clutch - especially launching from a stand still. I avoid high rpm slipping and I match-rev down shift. Since I engage my ESC above 2500 rpm, with the clutch engaged, I fully expect to get a "normal-use" life from my stock clutch.
Over the years I've owned 17 new cars - all with standard transmissions - and I've never replaced a clutch. Most of my cars were sold with 120,000 to 180,000 miles on the original clutch. It's all in how you use it, so don't abuse it.

But it's still so much easier to install.

Oh without a doubt. That will always be a huge advantage to the phantom. It just comes down to what you want/expect out of it for the price.

When we know more about the TQ300 I might be down to buy someone's TQ250 off them if a good price is offered =p. Honestly I don't think I'd be willing to shell out anymore than 1000 more for the benefits. Not to mention additional wait times. Prices are all speculation at this point of course.

unfortunately I wouldn't put too much stock in that. If others are like me, I check the forums 30 times a day, and check this thread on every new post
![]() but then again, at only 7,287 posts, there has to be a lot of lurkers too.

Hey guys! I met-up with Fenton yesterday for a little look, and a test ride in his FRS with the experimental stuff.
Fenton is just as nice in person as he is online, especially if he would take an old fossil like me for ride! I have to say... His car runs very strong, even if he still needs a tune to smooth things out. The new TQ300, set-up ramps up the compressor speed (and boost) soo fast! Not that the TQ250 is slow, but you can really tell alot of boost happens quite quickly. The hardware is also noticably more "heavy duty" I'll be interested to see how Rob decides to proceed with this. I'm pretty sure this unit might close the margin on some mechanical supercharging, rival set-ups.Thanks Fenton!

I am a lurker. I was learning about upgrades, bolt ins in particular, because I too like the feeling of being pressed against the seat but don't want to void my warranty. This seems like it is not too hard to switch back to stock, I'm fact easier than most bolt ons. How does this perform without changing the header etc?

It's fun watching this topic develop. Since I went traditional with my FI, I'm not likely to have one on this car but maybe in the future....
Then again, if you could find a way to combine the quick torque hit of the Phantom with the top end of a centrifugal super.... ;-) |

![]() I ran without the header for about a year. It performs very good without the header as well. The header gives you a little more smooth power delivery and a little more power everywhere in the rpm band. I find the header also helps off boost with freeing up a bit more HP which is nice for daily driving. I think the main reason to consider a header would be for a smoother powerband with more sharp lower acceleration and of course sounds ![]() Love my UEL header glory |
