Did you also plug the hole inside the car with the outlet plug from the glovebox? We did the sound generator delete with our airtube too, but it was still irritatingly loud on the passenger side until we plugged the hole from the inside.

I made an offer($28k otd) for the first Halo and waiting for their reply. The APR will be high like 3-4% because they treats it as a used car.

1). Halo white / auto with TRD exhaust (100 miles)
2). Halo white / auto with TRD exhaust (2000 miles)
3). Black /stick / 20’ wheels with TRD exhaust (400 miles)

If I can’t get the deal I want for the demo Monogram, I will just get the 2015’ base black with auto and I may have to pay MSRP for that.

01’ BMW 330i
12’ MB C350 coupe (sold)
89’ Celica (sold)
Unless they're 2015s, they're not Halo. They're Whiteout.

Also, they shouldn't be treated as used if they're new/never registered. I bought a demo Tundra in Southern California in 2012 with 3600 miles on it and it was registered/financed as a new vehicle.

Go with the monogram! I think 28K is really reasonable for a 2014 NEW monogram and you're asking for a demo. Also, if you like the TRD from the inside, stand outside and have the salesman hold the revs at 2-4K ranges so you can see how it really sounds outside. I think it's quiet outside imo.

On side note how do you like the Perrin? Have the TRD drop in but doesn't seem to do much of anything.
I don't notice anything amazing with it...I have a K&N drop in with the perrin inlet tube. Lol theoretically speaking, it should help with air flow...but I'm not noticing any significant gains in mpg or power.

Hm...good call @kavanagh. I'll do that today! I only plugged the outside.

I found this also. In theory it shouldn't make much difference but that hole in the footwell transmits a lot of engine noise until you cap it or plug it. I used a rubber windshield wiper spindle blanking plug from a Mazda Protege (really!).

^ What he said...

I came from an E46 M3 I owned for four years; I liked that car a lot. I'm happy with my decision to move to the FR-S but I guess my advise is different. I would own an M car first. The the chassis on FT86 platform cars are wonderful, the steering is sublime, the car reflexes are FAST because of the light weight but the FA20 motor is worthless without some sort of forced induction.

The S54 is the best inline 6 motor BMW ever made. You owe it to yourself to spend a couple of years with one.

I had an E36 M3 and I think about an E46 all the time -- why did you switch to the FR-S? Do those S54s require frequent valve adjustments or any other expensive 'routine' maintenance?

I bought my M3 with 11k miles on it and sold it with 97k. High mileage M3's are money pits so that factored in the decision. I really wanted something cheeper to run. I could have held on to the M3 but then I figured the cost of keeping it running 4 more years would have been the same as trading it in and paying the difference on a new FR-S.

The E46 M3 does require a full fluid swap and a valve adjustment every 40k. Those "Inspection II" services can be pricy but I got a maintenance package which easily paid for itself and then some. While I owed the car I went thru two sets of front and rear brakes (also covered by the maintenance package), a full set of shocks and struts, two alternators, a fan clutch and elected to replace all of the VANOS bolts during it's first big service just to be safe.

My advice was really about experiencing the E46 M3. It's an awesome car to own and I really miss the motor.

I've never seen someone cross shop a Mazda 3 and BMW M3. Hmmm...
