Yea this sounds like the dealers skirting any potential liability until they have a directive for SOA on another course of action.
SOA must have enough data points on this by now so why they haven't put the brakes on covering them is something else entirely.

5000kms still no crickets? I am starting to feel left out of all the fun. Wonder how many never develop this for whatever reason. Won't hear from those people like you do from the ones that DO have it I am sure.

My 2nd one lasted a bit longer than that. I think its already been determined that ethanol content in your fuel and temperature are big factors. You should be fine. If you get them, don't get it replaced. After a while it becomes less frequent and not very noticeable, or at least thats how it is with mine.

Try using STP or Lucas Oil complete fuel system cleaner every couple of weeks. You will probably never permanently get rid if them.

At least not that fast, car is a joy to drive after all things broke in, except the fact engine broke in brings you cricket.

I continue to be convinced it's the additive packages. Top tier gas is required to have 10% ethanol. Top tier gas also usually has some kind of additive package with detergents and drying agents to keep your injectors clean and keep the ethanol from absorbing water. When you buy ethanol-free gas, you're buying lower tier gas, which may not have the same fancy additives. I think it's the lack of those additives and NOT the lack of ethanol that gets rid of the crickets. That would make sense with the E85 results as well. That fuel wouldn't have the same additive package as a mostly gasoline fuel. There's something in the additive packages in the top tier gas that isn't found in either the E85 or the ethanol-free fuel, and THAT is what is causing our crickets. Quote:

I've noticed with E85 that the crickets have disappeared as well. Or if they show up, it's much less often. I made the mistake of using TC-W3 as soon as I switched to E85 out of paranoia of what E85 would do to the seals, but after halting the 2-stroke oil additive, the crickets haven't come back.
