How does "well, we have the wrong part, so let's go ahead and just ghetto-rig it" win over "well, we have the wrong part, so let's call the customer and see what he wants us to do?"" Like, how the fuck do these people start a business, let alone stay in business??

I often wonder how companies like this stay in business. It blows my mind that shops who claim they have "experienced" technicians pull this shit off and still stay in business. Furthermore, how can you even live with yourself knowing you've basically cheated a customer?

Fuuu, I want an MP5, would pick one up for the gf so has to be an auto
Luckily no snow so all the ones I'm looking at are <$6k with zero rust which I'm sure makes some people rather jealous... Quote:
I don't go to independent mechanics anymore. Janky welds, incorrect trim pieces (wrong color), oh we couldn't rebuild the old driveshaft we just fabbed a new one, here's the bill (didn't complain on this one, they did nice work), half the retaining clips/bolts missing etc. |

The FR-S is my daily driver. My other car is a slightly tweaked V6 Mustang...

Except for the winter when I DD the Forester XT on snow tires, I try to rotate through all of our cars, ideally driving each of them at last once a week. On any given day I could be commuting in the Mustang GT, Mini Cooper, FXT, BRZ, or one of the Miatas. If the weather is nice though, the '90 Miata probably sees the most use.

A track prepped, APR Stage 3, DSG, VW GTI:
![]() Much quieter and faster than my FR-S. Until I can get the noise issue taken care of I've basically been using the FR-S only on the weekends and autox events.
